Push presses and Overhead Squats
Have been on a weight loss journey for almost 2 years now. Have lost 30 lbs. Lots of hiccups along the way, but I'm just getting stronger and healthier as I go. Started at 253 lbs, 95 lbs more to go 💪
Push presses and overhead squats are excellent exercises to incorporate into your fitness routine, especially for those on a weight loss journey. Push presses engage your shoulders, core, and legs, making them a great full-body workout that builds strength and improves your overall conditioning. Overhead squats, on the other hand, require a combination of flexibility and stability, targeting your quads, hamstrings, and glutes while encouraging proper posture. Both exercises can be modified for different fitness levels, making them accessible whether you're just starting or already have some experience. Adding these movements to your routine can increase your calorie burn, as they demand more energy than isolated lifts and can lead to better muscle definition. Incorporating them into a CrossFit-style workout can further enhance their effectiveness by adding a cardiovascular component. Moreover, it's essential to focus on form to prevent injuries and maximize the benefits. Start with lighter weights to master the technique, ensuring you maintain a neutral spine and engage your core throughout each movement. As you progress, gradually increase the weight to continue challenging your body. With dedication and the right approach, push presses and overhead squats can significantly contribute to your fitness goals and help you overcome any hurdles on your weight loss journey.
