MAKING HEALTHY CHANGES - WEEK 1
Oh my goodness. I feel like I haven’t been keeping up with this app as much as I used to. Truth be told, I’ve been going through things mentally. One thing that has been driving me nuts is my energy levels. Having a mental illness can create so many issues. Especially when it comes to energy. Some days, even just getting dressed for the day completely drains me. I often lack motivation to do anything.
This past week I have actively worked to better myself and my mental health. I am already on many medications, and they definitely do help, but I’m worried about my physical health as well. I used to be very active and enjoyed physical movement. But this past year it’s been the complete opposite.
Guess what?? This last week I made some big changes. I put myself in a calorie deficit and am now walking 3 miles a week. Which, may not sound like much to some, but trust me when I say it’s a big milestone for me. The trail that I walk is actually at a newer park in my area that I’d never actually been to too. The amount of anxiety that I had towards going to an unfamiliar place, exercising in public as a plus sized individual, and having to embrace the fact that a lot of men were there as well was a lot to process. I’m still trying to be able to not worry about these things, but circumstances in our lives often haunt us. We just have to find out how to cope.
Anyway, I literally walked three miles this last week as well as AN EXTRA DAY!!!! ON THE WEEKEND TOO!!! I’m so so proud of myself. I’m trying not to look at a scale during this season in my life. I’m after health. With or without the pounds💖

Embarking on a journey to better health can be a blend of excitement and challenges, especially when addressing both mental and physical wellness. Many individuals seek effective ways to boost their energy levels and overall well-being through small, sustainable changes. Walking, as embraced in my journey, is a fantastic low-impact exercise that can significantly enhance cardiovascular health and mood. It's important to remember that engaging in regular physical activity can combat feelings of anxiety and depression, helping to improve mental health. Setting realistic goals, like starting with short walks, is essential; it allows for gradual improvements in stamina and strength over time. Additionally, maintaining a balanced diet while focusing on acquiring essential nutrients can also aid in regulating energy levels and support mental clarity. Finding the right balance between physical activity and nutrition may seem daunting, but celebrating even the smallest victories, such as consistently reaching a target distance or making healthier food choices, can lead to tremendous progress on your wellness journey. Additionally, connecting with communities or support groups, whether online or locally, can provide motivational boosts and shared experiences that foster strong support systems as you navigate your health improvements.

Hey Ashley! My aunt sent me your New to Lemon8 post because we are doppelgängers. I have blue eyes but our faces are so similar! You’ll have to let me know if you agree 🫶🏼
