Back to my natural hair color and why

When I became a cosmetologist I thought I'd become a vivids specialist. And one of the tools they teach you is to have the hair you want to do the most. I did all the vivids I could in my hair even a full blown rainbow (let me know if you wanna see it). Where I live is still a very conservative part of Washington State. I did hair at two full service salons for my first 4 years. The second one I worked at I loved it, until one day we all walked in and the computer up front said get your shit and get out we went out of business. Fast forward I've been working at great clips for the last 4 years. I work in a wonderful shop with great people. And in the 8 years of doing hair this is my conclusion. Everybody wants to tell me that they wish they could have my hair and they like my hair but nobody wants to have hair like this, like vivids. The last color I did on my hair was peach and I absolutely loved it except for one thing, the maintenance. Maintenance on vivids is not easy especially with light colors. I just got fed up. Well for now anyways. I want to be lazy with my hair. I've spent the better part of the last 8 years with crazy colored hair or black hair. it's time to take a break.

... Read moreAs a cosmetologist, I initially aimed to specialize in vivid hair colors, which put me in the spotlight for colorful hairstyles. However, my experience revealed a common struggle among clients who admired vibrant colors but were hesitant to commit. Maintenance of vivid hair colors, especially lighter shades, can be demanding, requiring regular touch-ups and special care to keep them looking fresh. The shift away from vivid colors towards more natural shades allows for easier maintenance and gives the scalp a much-needed break from harsh chemicals. Transitioning back to your natural hair can be liberating. By embracing your natural color, you not only save time and money but also promote healthier hair growth. This journey isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about feeling comfortable in your own skin, which can significantly boost your self-esteem. Many find that their natural shade reflects their true identity and style. If you’ve ever considered returning to your roots like I did, know that you’re not alone. This trend of returning to natural colors is gaining popularity as more individuals prioritize hair health over extreme hair fashion. Whether you wish to maintain your vibrant personality or shift to a more natural tone, what truly matters is choosing a hair color that aligns with your lifestyle and preferences.
