Turn up for Uncle Georgie
My uncle Georgie was a special man. He loved to sacrifice himself for others. For that he is a legend and a saint. I wonder though could he also have shared a plate for himself. I admire Jesus but martyrdom for a mortal man seems like blasphemy and an exercise in futility. Everyone needs to pull their weight. Must Jesus bear the cross alone and the whole world go free?
Reflecting on Uncle Georgie's story, it's clear that sacrifice is a deeply personal and often complex act.
