Donations are still needed 😥🙏
Right now he is a number. A tag. They’ve taken his name away from him, they actually didn’t even send his name along with him, he’s just weight on a piece of paper. A dollar at the end of a very silent system that is meant to make this horse disappear.
But, he doesn’t know it, I am standing right in front of him. Next to him. I see him. Now you do too.
A senior gelding… an ex-carriage horse who spent his life doing exactly what was asked of him and this is where he ended up.
He’s tired… he has fungus on his chest and sides, strap scars on his sides from old wounds that turned white.
He has limited time — but that’s not if we have anything to say about it.
Not if YOU have anything to say about it.#horseappreciation #horserescue #donate #lemon #Lemon8
Encountering a senior horse like this ex-carriage gelding is a deeply moving experience. Having devoted his life to serving others, it’s heartbreaking to see him neglected, reduced to a mere number without a name or identity. Horses like him often suffer silently from conditions such as fungus and old wounds, which reflect years of hard work and painful neglect. In my experience volunteering with horse rescue organizations, these gentle creatures often arrive at shelters in fragile condition, partially blind or carrying injuries that require immediate veterinary attention. Despite their challenges, many display remarkable resilience and still seek human connection and care. Rescuing a senior horse is more than just providing shelter; it requires ongoing medical care, proper nutrition, and a patient environment where they can heal physically and emotionally. Funding becomes crucial because the costs associated with their rehabilitation often exceed initial expectations, especially when complications from fungal infections or scars emerge. Supporting these rescues through donations is vital. Contributions help secure necessary treatments, feed specialized diets, and offer safe, loving forever homes. If you have ever witnessed the transformation of a neglected horse into a thriving companion, you understand how every dollar can change a life. I encourage everyone who comes across stories like this to consider how they can help. Sharing awareness, volunteering time, or donating even small amounts can collectively save these seniors from fading into anonymity. Remember, behind every number is a soul yearning for recognition and second chances. Now that you see him, make sure his story doesn’t end here.
