i recently visited kyō teahouse at cross street and here’s my review 🍋
🏠 exterior
first of all, the shop’s exterior was simple yet enough to gather a large group of people. it looked like a drive thru with a huge glass window where you can see the baristas whisking matcha and scooping banana pudding! basically, super aesthetic and something that came out of a book ❤️
⏫ convenience
the location was a 5 min walk from chinatown MRT which is honestly very convenient and easy to locate! the tea house used a mobile order system (QR code) to collect orders and display order numbers, which i thought was incredibly efficient as well :)
🍵 menu
they specialise in tea (clearly) but they offer a wide variety of toppings and variations like hojicha, genmaicha, and other non-tea beverages like chocolate and sparkling yuzu!
my best friend and i got a banana pudding matcha with the guizhou matcha and oat milk! we gave it an 8/10 as the quality of the matcha was amazing and the banana pudding wasn’t overpowering and too sweet ⭐️ but i think this would’ve been a 10/10 for me if the servings of banana pudding and biscoff bits were more generous! nonetheless it was GREAT!
overall I think it’s worth the hype and i recommend trying out the banana pudding matcha and other beverages :)
... Read moreIf you're a fan of matcha and unique desserts, Kyō Teahouse at Cross Street is definitely worth a visit. Their location is incredibly convenient—a short 5-minute walk from Chinatown MRT—making it easy to pop in during a day out in the city. The mobile order system using a QR code is quick and hassle-free, allowing you to focus on enjoying your drink without waiting in long lines.
One thing I loved about the banana pudding matcha was how the flavors complemented each other so well. The Guizhou matcha has a vibrant and authentic taste, which pairs wonderfully with the creamy oat milk, creating a smooth and indulgent texture. The banana pudding adds a subtle sweetness but never overwhelms the drink, striking a perfect balance. For those who enjoy a bit of crunch, the Biscoff bits sprinkled on top provide an extra layer of texture and flavor. While I'd personally love a slightly larger serving of pudding and bits, the current portions still made the drink enjoyable and satisfying.
Beyond the banana pudding matcha, the menu offers a variety of tea options including hojicha and genmaicha, as well as non-tea beverages like sparkling yuzu and chocolate. This variety means there's something for every palate. Whether you're a matcha purist or looking to try new, fun flavor combinations, Kyō Teahouse provides a cozy, stylish environment that blends traditional tea culture with modern convenience.
Next time you visit, consider pairing your drink with some light snacks or simply enjoy the vibe of the teahouse. I've found it a perfect spot to unwind with friends or take a quick, refreshing break. If you get the chance, definitely try the banana pudding matcha—the quality of matcha is impressive and the dessert twist makes it a memorable treat!
