Is Anyone Else Feeling Extra Lazy?

The colder it gets, the harder it is to convince myself to leave my cozy bed.

Lately, I've been trying to stop waiting for motivation and focus on little habits instead. Even something as simple as making my bed, drinking water, or finishing one small task helps me feel like I'm making progress.

Because sometimes consistency matters more than motivation.

Anyone else struggling to stay motivated now that it's getting colder?

... Read moreAs the colder months roll in, I've found that staying motivated becomes increasingly challenging for many of us. The drop in temperature naturally encourages us to stay in our warm beds, making it harder to stick to our usual routines. From personal experience, I’ve learned that trying to tackle big goals without motivation just doesn’t work well during this time. Instead, focusing on small, manageable habits is a game changer. One habit that really helped me was setting a realistic time goal for each task. For example, instead of planning a two-hour session of work or exercise, I started with just five or thirty minutes. This approach makes it feel so much easier to get started — you can’t really say no to something that requires such a small time commitment. Scheduling these habits like appointments in my calendar also improved my follow-through. Having a set time to complete even tiny tasks made me accountable and less likely to procrastinate. Another effective method is to build new habits around existing routines. For instance, drinking a glass of water right after brushing my teeth every morning helped me develop consistency without much thought. Even on days when I felt particularly low on energy, I reminded myself that showing up and doing the smallest version of my habit was still progress. Whenever motivation dipped, recalling *why* I started these habits in the first place made a huge difference. Writing down my reasons and revisiting them helped me push through the low energy days. I also found it helpful to track my moods and habits with simple journals or apps, which made me feel more engaged and rewarded as I progressed. In essence, combating the winter blahs isn’t about sudden bursts of energy or motivation—it’s about consistent, small steps that feel achievable. From making your bed in the morning to spending just a few minutes on mindful journaling or meditation, these little actions accumulate and keep your productivity alive, even when the cozy season tempts you to do otherwise.
