Toe Pain or Medial Ankle Pain?

6/28 Edited to

... Read moreFrom personal experience, addressing tightness or weakness in the Flexor Hallucis Longus muscle can make a significant difference in managing foot and ankle pain. Start gently with 3 sets of simple holds lasting 1-2 minutes each, focusing on flexing the big toe. This helps awaken the muscle that's key to pushing off when you walk or run. Next, try seated calf raises while slightly flexing your big toe, also for 3 sets of 1-2 minutes. This builds strength without overloading the ankle. Balancing on a towel is a surprisingly effective way to engage all your toes and enhance stability. Hold this for 1-2 minutes per leg, making sure each toe presses down firmly. Progress to single-leg calf raises, aiming for 5-15 reps per set. This might cause some discomfort initially, but it’s a good sign the targeted muscles are activating. If you notice tightness, stretching the Flexor Hallucis Longus is essential. Begin by using your hands to gently stretch the big toe, then try single-leg stretches held for 20-30 seconds, advancing to double-leg stretches without pushing the toe inward. For additional support, taping with rigid tape around the area can help reduce pain during activity. Remember, patience and consistency are key! These exercises helped me restore foot function after injury and can be effective for anyone dealing with similar symptoms.
