Some books aren’t meant to be finished… they’re meant to be understood

I’ve read a lot of books this past year…

and I’m starting to realize something.

Not every book is meant to speak to you right away.

Some books meet you where you are.

And some… are meant to sit with you as a reference.

---

Not something I need to rush through.

Not something I need to fully absorb right now.

---

And The Untethered Soul?

It’s one of those books where I can read a few pages…

pause…

and actually sit with what I just read.

Because it’s not about finishing it.

It’s about understanding it.

I think I used to feel like I had to finish every book…

like stopping meant I was falling off.

But now?

I’m learning that some books aren’t meant to be finished quickly.

They’re meant to be revisited.

And honestly…

that changed the way I read completely.

4/6 Edited to

... Read moreReading The Untethered Soul was a unique experience for me, and it truly reshaped my perspective on how to consume books that carry deep meaning. Instead of pushing myself to finish it quickly, I found that pausing to reflect on each passage allowed me to connect more deeply with the content. This approach aligns with the idea that some books serve as tools or companions that meet you where you are in life, rather than just stories to be completed. One thing I learned is that books like this act more like lifelong guides than traditional novels. Repeatedly revisiting key concepts or passages enhances the understanding rather than rushing to the last page. It’s like the book becomes a personal reference you turn to as you grow or face new situations. I also realized that this slower, more thoughtful reading practice helps reduce the pressure of feeling like I must finish everything immediately. It makes the reading experience more enjoyable and less stressful, fostering a deeper appreciation of the author’s wisdom. The Untethered Soul, by Michael A. Singer, being a #1 New York Times Bestseller with over 3 million copies sold, clearly resonates with many readers who seek inner growth. Practicing this mindful reading strategy can be applied to other meaningful books as well. Instead of rushing through, take the time to pause, reflect, and let the material settle within you. This way, you embrace the journey beyond just finishing the book—it's about truly understanding and integrating the lessons into your life.
