checking in with yourself matters too ✨
Oftentimes we check in with everybody else.
We show up for the people we love and try to support them the best way we can.
However… sometimes we neglect ourselves.
How often do we truly check in with ourselves? When do we make time or create space to simply make sure we are okay?
We aren’t robots… we have needs too. An empty cup cannot pour into another cup.
Just like we show up for others, our jobs, our kids, and our responsibilities… we should show up for ourselves too.
I encourage you to set aside some time to reflect and do something that recharges you 🤎

Okay, so you've heard 'checking in with yourself' thrown around, but what does it really mean? For me, it's not just a fleeting thought; it's a dedicated moment to pause and listen to my inner world. Think of it like a mini-meeting with your most important person – *you*. This simple practice is truly how those 'checks enhance self-awareness' in a profound way, helping me understand my own landscape much clearer. I used to just rush through my days, always reacting, never quite knowing why I felt drained or irritable. But then I started scheduling these little self-check-ins, and it was a game-changer. It's essentially asking yourself a few key questions: Emotionally: "How am I genuinely feeling right now? Not how I think I should feel, but what's bubbling beneath the surface? What might be causing this?" Physically: "What does my body need? Am I tense? Hungry? Thirsty? Tired? Have I moved enough today?" Mentally: "What thoughts are on repeat in my head? Are they serving me, or are they just noise? Is there something I need to process?" Energetically: "On a scale of 1 to 10, how full is my energy tank? What kind of activities would genuinely recharge me right now?" By doing this regularly, I started noticing patterns. For instance, I realized that certain tasks consistently left me feeling depleted, while others energized me. This insight truly enhances self-awareness because it moves beyond just knowing what you do, to understanding how it impacts you. It's like gaining an internal compass that helps you navigate your day with more intention. Before, I might have snapped at someone after a long, stressful day without understanding why. Now, after a quick self-check, I might realize I'm just overstimulated and need a quiet moment. This understanding allows me to communicate my needs better or choose a different response. It empowers me to make conscious decisions about how I spend my time and energy, aligning them with what truly matters to my well-being. So yes, 'checking in with yourself matters too,' not just as a nice idea, but as a practical tool for daily living. It helps you catch those subtle signs before they become overwhelming problems, making you more resilient and present. It's about filling your own cup first, so you genuinely have something meaningful to pour into others. This consistent self-reflection is the very essence of how we build a stronger, more aware version of ourselves, leading to a much richer and more balanced life.
