$50k…sounds like a lot of money. But it’s gone quickly when you need to pay for your wedding, your BTO, your renovation, your car.

After CPF deduction,

It will take 5 years and saving 35% of your take-home pay to hit $50k savings if your salary is $3k.

It will take 3 years and saving 35% of your take-home pay to hit $50k savings if your salary is $5k.

It will take 2 years and saving 37% of your take-home pay to hit $50k savings if your salary is $7k.

The BEST time to START is NOW!!

If you are not hitting the target savings, review your spendings! Always be logical about your timeline and spendings!

... Read moreFrom my experience, setting a clear and realistic saving timeline is crucial to reaching $50k. For example, if you earn around $3,000 after CPF, aiming to save 35% of your take-home pay consistently will take about 5 years. However, if you have a higher salary, like $7,000, saving roughly 37% can cut that time down to 2 years. One important tip is to track your monthly savings and spending carefully. If you find yourself falling short of the target, don’t get discouraged. Instead, review your expenditures and identify non-essential costs to cut down. Sometimes just small adjustments, like eating out less or limiting impulse purchases, can make a big difference over time. Another approach is exploring side hustles or freelance work to boost your income, which can help you save faster. Investing your savings wisely can also accelerate growth but requires understanding the risks involved. Remember, consistency and discipline matter most. Celebrate small milestones along your journey to keep motivated. Saving $50k is not just about the amount but about adopting a sustainable money management habit that empowers your financial future.
