Freedom isn’t just something Jesus offers, it’s the life He calls us to live.
Day 5 of Journaling with Jesus: Finding Freedom from Unforgiveness celebrates the victory that comes through forgiveness and the new life found in Christ. The chains of yesterday no longer have to define your tomorrow.
📖 Today’s Focus: Walking in New Freedom
Key Scripture: Galatians 5:1
As you complete this five-day journey, remember that forgiveness isn’t the end, it’s the beginning of a life marked by peace, healing, joy, and hope. Jesus has unlocked the prison door. Today, choose to walk in the freedom He purchased for you on the cross.
No longer bound by bitterness.
No longer defined by your past.
You are forgiven, redeemed, loved, and free.
May this be more than the final day of a devotional may it be the first day of a life fully surrendered to Christ and filled with His grace.

Read moreReflecting on my own journey of forgiveness, I've found that true freedom in Christ is much more than a spiritual concept—it's a deeply personal experience that reshapes how I live daily. Letting go of unforgiveness wasn't instant; it was a process that involved daily reflection on scriptures like Galatians 5:1, which reminds us, "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free."
One particularly helpful practice was journaling my prayers and struggles, much like the devotional's encouragement to "sit with Jesus, read His Word, and write what He speaks to your heart." Writing down my feelings helped uncover hidden bitterness and replace it with God's truth about my identity as forgiven and loved.
The freedom mentioned isn’t just freedom from past hurts, but also the freedom to embrace a future unshackled by those pains. Each day presented a choice—to hold onto past bitterness or to step forward into grace and healing. Meditation on scriptures such as John 8:36 and 2 Corinthians 5:17 reinforced the reality that in Christ, I am a new creation, freed from old chains.
I learned that walking in new freedom requires ongoing effort: building healthy habits like daily prayer, Bible study, and fellowship with other believers helps keep my heart free and rooted in God's Word. Encouraging others with the freedom I’ve found also reinforced my own commitment to this path.
Ultimately, this journey taught me that freedom in Christ is not only a gift to accept but a life to actively live—a life where the past no longer defines us, and where each day is an opportunity to walk in peace, purpose, and joy. Choosing to release the past and embrace the new life Jesus offers transforms every moment into a fresh beginning.
