How to tie a Solly Baby Wrap 👶🏼🦘💝
Solly baby wrap tutorial! I was so intimidated by the Solly Baby Wrap when I first saw it - I was like it’s such a loooong piece of fabric. But it’s actually so doable and fun! This wrap is SO buttery soft, cooling and light weight. Yet so sturdy and keeps my baby close and safe 🫶 Here’s a quick tutorial step by step (while my baby took a nap, so bear had to be my model at the end haha). I love this wrap bc it’s GREAT for the newborn phase, even when they’re very small.
Hope this helps you if you’re on the fence, or just got one and are nervous to use it!

After you've mastered tying your Solly Baby Wrap, you'll discover a whole new world of closeness and convenience! For me, the Solly Wrap became an absolute lifesaver, especially during those early newborn days. It wasn't just about keeping my baby close; it was about reclaiming some of my hands-free life while still providing that essential comfort. Why I Love Babywearing (and why you will too!): Beyond the amazing softness and lightweight feel of the Solly, babywearing offers so many benefits. My baby always seemed calmer and settled faster when snuggled in the wrap. The constant contact helps regulate their breathing and heart rate, plus it's incredible for bonding. I could get so much done around the house, from making a snack to sending emails, all while my little one happily napped or observed the world from their cozy spot. It truly feels like an extension of your embrace. Ensuring Your Baby's Safety & Comfort (Beyond the Tie): Once you've done step 1: finding the tag / middle and gone through all the steps to tie in a knot to the side, it's vital to do a quick check to ensure your baby is safe and comfortable. Here are a few tips I learned: Airway Clear: Always make sure your baby's face is visible and their chin is off their chest. You should be able to slide two fingers easily under their chin. This prevents their airway from being restricted. Their head should be close enough for you to kiss. Snug, Not Tight: The wrap should feel snug, almost like a firm hug, but not uncomfortably tight for you or baby. If your baby's head flops around, it’s too loose. When you pull waist band with the tag up in the final step, make sure it offers good support without digging in. Proper Positioning: Your baby should be in an M-position, with their knees higher than their bum, and bottom supported by the fabric. This promotes healthy hip development. Make sure the fabric is spread smoothly across their back and under their bottom, as shown when you spread out the shoulders over your own. No saggy bottoms! Listen to Your Baby: If your baby fusses, it might mean they need adjusting. Sometimes they just want to stretch, or they might be too hot or cold. The Solly is breathable, but always check their temperature. Troubleshooting Common Wrap Worries: "It feels too loose!" This was my biggest fear! After you’ve done step 5: feed the two ends through the band you've made around your waist, try tightening the fabric across your back and shoulders before bringing it forward to tie. A good snug fit from the start makes all the difference. "My baby slips down." This usually means the wrap wasn't tight enough before you put your baby in, or the bottom rail isn't supporting their tush adequately. Re-tie it, focusing on getting a really secure initial fit around your torso. "My back hurts." Ensure the fabric is spread wide over your shoulders (step 6: spread out the shoulders) to distribute weight evenly. Also, check that your baby isn't too low; gravity will pull them down, straining your back. Don't be discouraged if it takes a few tries to get the hang of it. Just like anything new, practice makes perfect! Soon enough, tying your Solly Baby Wrap will become second nature, and you'll wonder how you ever managed without it.
