Me at work every time my OM says something stupid

Working under an Operations Manager (OM) who occasionally makes decisions that negatively affect the operations can be quite challenging. I've experienced times when my OM made questionable calls that seemed to disrupt our workflow rather than improve it. The key to navigating these situations lies in how we respond personally and professionally. From my experience, every time my OM makes a stupid decision that actually hurts operation, I first take a moment to analyze the impact objectively rather than reacting emotionally. Maintaining professionalism helps keep team morale high and avoids unnecessary conflict. Sometimes, these decisions stem from pressures or information gaps the OM might be facing, so understanding their perspective can be beneficial. Next, I focus on documenting the operational setbacks in a factual manner and propose alternative solutions. Bringing constructive feedback with well-thought-out suggestions often opens up better communication channels and may lead to adjustments or improvements in decision-making. Additionally, building a supportive network among colleagues reinforces a collaborative environment where we help each other stay productive despite leadership challenges. Sharing frustrations in a constructive way—not gossip or complaints—enables collective problem-solving. Lastly, I find it vital to manage personal stress through healthy outlets outside of work. This balance promotes resilience, ensuring that when the OM says something that seems unwise, I can maintain my composure and continue contributing effectively to the team’s success.
