Siege expectations
Hey fellow R6 Siege operators! Let's talk about one of the most underrated gadgets in the game: the Claymore. If you're like me, you've probably had those intense moments where a perfectly placed Claymore saves the round, or maybe you've been on the receiving end of one! I've spent countless hours trying to master this explosive little trap, and I'm here to share some of my personal insights and strategies to help you get more value out of it. First off, don't just throw them down randomly. Think about their primary purpose: area denial and flank watch. My absolute favorite way to use a Claymore is for securing a plant. Imagine it: you've got the defuser down, and instead of exposing yourself to every angle, you slap a Claymore down on a key entry point. It forces enemies to either slow down, get blasted, or find another way around, buying you precious seconds. I've won so many rounds simply by protecting the defuser with a well-placed Claymore. It’s like having an extra pair of eyes watching your back. Another brilliant use is for flank security, especially if you're holding a long angle or pushing deep into the objective. Ever been shot in the back? Yup, me too. A Claymore watching a common rotation or staircase can completely negate that threat. I always try to place them where the laser isn't easily visible, maybe just around a corner or slightly elevated. For instance, on maps like Oregon, placing one in the 'Lounge' door leading to the main objective can catch unsuspecting roamers off guard. It's all about anticipating enemy movement and getting that satisfying "Claymore Destroyed" notification! But what about countering them? Because believe me, you'll be running into enemy Claymores too! The most straightforward way is to shoot the device itself or the laser. However, sometimes that's not an option. That's where operators like Thatcher come in handy with his EMP grenades to disable them temporarily, or IQ with her gadget to spot them through walls. Twitch's drone can also zap them, and any explosive gadget like a frag grenade or Ash's breach round can destroy them from a distance. I always keep an eye out for those tell-tale laser grids, especially when pushing into a new area. On a recent match, I was able to identify an enemy Claymore by its faint laser in a dark corner, saving my team from an early round loss. Finally, practice makes perfect. Experiment with different placements in custom games. See what angles the laser covers and what routes enemies usually take. Don't be afraid to try unconventional spots. Sometimes the most unexpected Claymore is the most effective. Keeping your FPS high and your PING low will ensure your reactions are on point when you need to deploy or counter these sneaky traps! Good luck, and happy trapping!
