I used to think being exhausted meant I was winning.
If I skipped lunch, I called it dedication.
If I answered emails at midnight, I called it commitment.
If I worked through every break, I called it success.
The truth?
I wasn’t thriving.
I was slowly running on empty.
Somewhere along the way, many of us started believing that being constantly busy is something to be proud of. We celebrate long hours, missed meals, and sleepless nights as if they prove our worth.
But they don’t.
Your value isn’t measured by how exhausted you are.
Your family doesn’t need the most exhausted version of you.
Your patients don’t need the version of you that’s barely holding on.
They need the healthiest version of you.
So today, I’m choosing something different.
☕ I’ll drink my coffee before it gets cold.
🌅 I’ll notice the sunset.
🚶 I’ll take a walk.
🙏 I’ll spend time with God.
❤️ I’ll be fully present with the people I love.
Because I’ve learned something that changed my life:
Rest isn’t something you earn after you’ve given everything away.
Rest is something you protect so you can continue living with purpose.
If you’re feeling tired today, this is your reminder:
You are allowed to pause.
You are allowed to breathe.
You are allowed to take care of yourself.
That doesn’t make you weak.
It makes you wise.
