Pass Navigo in paris
🚆 What is the Pass Navigo?
The Pass Navigo is a rechargeable transit card used for Paris and surrounding region public transport (metro, RER, buses, tram, funicular). It makes travelling easier and usually cheaper than buying single tickets if you’re using transport a lot.
There are different types of Navigo cards depending on how often and how long you’ll be traveling:
🃏 1. Passe Navigo (Personal)
For regular travellers
Personal and nominative — only the person on the card can use it.
Best if you’ll be in Paris for weeks or more, or if you live / work in Île-de-France.
You can load:
Weekly pass
Monthly pass
Annual pass
Certain discounted passes (young people, seniors, solidarity programs, etc.).
How to get it:
Free for first issue
In person at ticket offices (RATP, SNCF)
Online or by mail
Requires a photo and personal details
Note: If lost or stolen, replacement costs around €15.
💳 2. Passe Navigo Easy (Anonymous)
For occasional riders and visitors
Non-personal — you can lend it to someone.
Cost to get the card: €2.
You can load:
Individual tickets
Day passes
Paris Visite tourist passes
Short-term packages (bus, tram, etc.)
Good if:
✔ You’re visiting Paris for a few days
✔ You don’t want to register for a personal card.
🗓️ Main Types of Passes You Can Load

Best for long-term stays: year of unlimited travel
Price depends on chosen zones (all zones could be around €976.80/year).
🟨 Navigo Day Pass

📍 Price and Zone Info
Paris and its suburbs are divided into fare zones. If you choose Monthly/Weekly/Annual passes, you select which zones you’ll travel in (1 = central Paris, up to 5 for outer suburbs).
👉 In practice, people travelling a lot across the region often buy all-zones passes.
📱 Using Your Phone
You can now use some Navigo services and passes directly on your smartphone with the official Île-de-France Mobilités app — including Navigo Liberté+ and other options, though some require a French address or account.
🧠 Tips for Visitors
✔ If you’re in Paris for only a few days, buying/Paris a Navigo Easy card and loading day or Paris Visite passes is usually easiest.
✔ For stays of ~7+ days, weekly/monthly pass on a personal Navigo or on phone can be cheaper.
✔ Always tap your card on the reader when entering the metro, RER, bus or tram. #paris #iledefrance #france #travel #shopping
