Stick Season! ✨🤗
First competition 2 weeks away.. 😱

As someone who is just two weeks away from their first gymnastics competition, I can tell you that "stick season" is an intense yet incredibly rewarding time. This phase is all about perfecting your landings and ensuring that all your routines end solidly on your feet – the perfect "stick". It's not just a physical challenge but a mental one too, as confidence and focus play big roles in success. During this period, I am dedicating extra time to practicing my dismounts and floor routines, paying close attention to form and precision. I find video recordings especially helpful to spot small errors that are easy to miss in the moment. To keep my mind calm and ready for competition day, I have been incorporating visualization techniques where I imagine successfully completing each skill flawlessly. Nutrition and rest are also key components of my training right now. Staying hydrated and eating balanced meals help maintain my energy levels, while ensuring I get quality sleep helps my body recover from intense practices. Stretching and light conditioning exercises between training sessions reduce muscle soreness and improve flexibility. I also connect with other gymnasts online and in my community to exchange tips and encouragement. This journey is just as much about personal growth as it is about achieving competitive results. For gymnasts entering stick season, my advice is to stay patient, trust your training, and celebrate every small achievement along the way. The hard work will pay off, and the thrill of competition is truly worth it.
