Musin’ in Chicago 🦦
Hey babes, I had the opportunity of participating in Restaurant week this year in Chicago!
Restaurant week is a designated week or 2 where high end restaurants take the time to designate a menu to promote a 3 course meal to their audiences. (I think that’s their goal)
I went to STK and Ocean Prime both at dinner time and it was amazing. Meals that normally price at <$100, were available for just $60.
I highly recommend participating: you’re able to access more aesthetically pleasing restaurants with high end quality food at a lower rate.

Hey fellow foodies! Since I just raved about my incredible Chicago Restaurant Week experience, I wanted to share some extra tips to help you navigate the city's amazing dining scene, especially when you're looking for those hidden gems or fantastic deals outside of special events. First off, if you're like me and love a good bargain on a high-end experience, don't limit yourself to just Restaurant Week. Many Chicago restaurants, even those known for their luxurious ambiance and prime cuts, offer incredible happy hour specials or early bird menus during off-peak hours. These are perfect for trying a new spot, sampling appetizers, or enjoying a signature cocktail without committing to a full-price dinner. Websites like OpenTable, Yelp, and even the restaurants' direct sites often list these promotions. Subscribing to newsletters from your favorite eateries can also give you a heads-up on upcoming events or discounts. When planning a special meal, especially at a popular spot like Ocean Prime or STK, always make reservations well in advance. Restaurant Week books up incredibly fast, but even on regular nights, Chicago's top restaurants are busy. A good tip is to call directly if online slots aren't available – sometimes they hold back a few tables for phone bookings. Also, don't be shy to ask about their menu beforehand. If you have dietary restrictions or simply want to know if they feature specific items like fresh seafood or particular cuts of meat, it's always good to be informed. Understanding the menu, especially for prix fixe options, ensures you get exactly what you're craving. Beyond just the food, consider the entire dining experience. Is it a place known for its vibrant atmosphere, a quiet romantic setting, or a bustling bar scene? Reading recent reviews can give you a feel for the service, ambiance, and even the typical crowd. For instance, if you're dining at a place recognized for its seafood, like *Ocean Prime*, pay attention to what people say about the freshness and preparation. And seriously, don't underestimate the power of a perfectly crafted *cocktail*! Many high-end establishments have master mixologists who create unique drinks that perfectly complement their cuisine. It truly elevates the meal from just eating to an entire sensory journey. Finally, when exploring Chicago's vast culinary landscape, don't stick to just one neighborhood. Each area has its own unique flavor. West Loop is famous for its trendy, chef-driven restaurants, River North for upscale dining and nightlife, and neighborhoods like Lincoln Park or Logan Square offer a mix of cozy cafes and innovative eateries. Utilize local food blogs, Instagram accounts, and even ask locals for their recommendations. You never know what incredible dining experience or hidden gem you might uncover next in the Windy City!
