The papa we know in Thailand is interesting because the names and foods are different.

Birth point in China

Chinese pickled paste, named Youtiao () or "deflated from Huai," is a fried dough, crispy outside soft in, eaten with porridge or tofu juice.

There is a legend that during the Song Dynasty, a nobleman named Qin Hui betrayed him to the death of the loyal general Yue Fei. The people were so angry that they formed two people in a row instead of Qin Hui and his wife and fried them in oil as a curse to become deflated.

So where did "papa" come from?

The word "papong" in Teochew Chinese originally meant white steamed dough dessert with sugar, not fried dough.

When the Chinese migrated into Thailand, many stores sold both

* Huai fry (fried dough)

* Pathong (sweet steamed dessert)

Thai customers are often confused, until the name "Patty" finally becomes the name of the fried dough, and almost no one calls it.

Why is Padong Thai different from China?

Thai papong has developed its own form, such as

* Small, "tiny pickle."

* Bun, star, or animal form

* Eat with condensed milk, sangkha, or ancient coffee.

In China, it is preferred to porridge or tofu juice.
