As night falls, this place becomes
There’s a house with warm lights
and laughter that fills the halls,
pictures hanging on the walls
like proof that I made it here.
The kind of life
I used to dream about
on sleepless nights
when hope was the only thing I owned.
I have the mornings I prayed for,
hands to hold,
a place to belong,
a future that finally stopped feeling so far away.
And still…
somewhere between the silence
after everyone falls asleep
and the sound of my own breathing,
something aches.
Not loud enough to ruin the life,
not sharp enough to name,
just a quiet emptiness
sitting beside every beautiful thing.
Like a song missing one note,
a sky missing one star,

it cannot explain.
I smile in all the right places.
I say, “I’m happy,”
