Jaguar XJ220 Nürburgring Flying Lap | 7:07.348
Wow, what an adrenaline rush! I just had to share my recent session on Gran Turismo 7. I decided to take the legendary Jaguar XJ220 out for a spin on the most challenging track of them all: the Nürburgring Nordschleife. And let me tell you, it was an absolutely wild ride! Driving the Jaguar XJ220 in GT7 is an experience unlike any other. This car is a true beast, a relic from an era of raw, untamed power. While it's incredibly fast in a straight line, mastering its handling on the twisty Nürburgring is a real test of skill. I've spent countless hours in Gran Turismo 7, but this particular combination always pushes me to my limits. The sheer power output means you have to be incredibly gentle with the throttle, especially coming out of corners. Oversteer is always lurking, ready to send you spinning into the barriers if you're not careful. For anyone trying this, I’d highly recommend spending some time tweaking the suspension and differential settings to get it just right for your driving style. A little downforce can go a long way too! The Nürburgring itself is a character in this story. Every single corner, every crest, every dip has its own personality. From the fast, flowing sections like Flugplatz and Schwedenkreuz to the technical, unforgiving corners of the Karussell and Brünnchen, it demands absolute focus. I often find myself holding my breath through sections like the Fuchsröhre, trying to keep the XJ220 stable at insane speeds. The immersion in virtual reality, especially with a good force-feedback wheel, makes you feel every bump and every slide, almost as if you're truly there. It’s not just a game; it’s a full-body simulation. My goal for this session was a clean 'Flying Lap' – no resets, no major mistakes – and to see if I could push past my previous best. After a few warm-up laps, familiarizing myself again with the XJ220’s nuances on this track, I finally strung together a fantastic run. The 7:07.348 lap time felt incredibly satisfying. I managed to nail the entry into some key corners like Aremberg and Mutkurve, carrying crucial speed without losing control. The key for me was being patient on the throttle until the car was settled, and using the high gears to maintain momentum where possible. It wasn't perfect, but it was fast, clean, and exhilarating. That feeling when you cross the finish line and see a new personal best pop up is what keeps me coming back to sim racing. If you're a Gran Turismo 7 player and you haven't tried tackling the Nürburgring with the Jaguar XJ220, you absolutely have to. It's a challenging but incredibly rewarding experience. Don't be discouraged by spin-outs or off-track excursions; persistence is key on the 'Green Hell.' Keep practicing your lines, learn the braking points, and most importantly, have fun! I’m always looking to improve my lap times and compare notes with other racers. Feel free to share your best times or any tips you have for mastering this car/track combo.
