Your unwrapped pad is harming others

..and it’s not just about the smell. Here are a few reasons you should wrapped your used pad below:

🩺Hygiene and Health

🦠Prevention of Germ Spread: Wrapping reduces the risk of spreading infections and keeps the surrounding environment sanitary.

👃Odor Control: Properly wrapped pads help contain odors, making the disposal area more pleasant for everyone.

🚮Environmental Responsibility

🗑️Proper Waste Management: It helps to keep the waste contained, reducing the likelihood of it scattering or creating a mess.

♻️Reducing Plastic Waste: While some may use plastic bags to wrap pads, using the pad’s own wrapper or other biodegradable materials can minimize plastic waste, contributing to more environmentally friendly disposal practices.

🌎Social Consideration

🫡Respect for Others: Wrapping used pads before disposal is a considerate practice in shared spaces.

🤫Discretion: Wrapping pads ensures discretion, preventing the exposure of used sanitary products, which can be uncomfortable or embarrassing for some individuals.

😌Best Practices for Wrapping Pads:

Use the Pad’s Wrapper: Many pads come with individual wrappers that can be used to contain the used pad.

Toilet Paper: If the original wrapper is not available, toilet paper can be used to wrap the pad securely.

So girls, wrapping a pad before disposal is a simple but crucial practice that enhances hygiene, supports proper waste management, and shows consideration for others. It is a small step that can have a significant positive impact on personal and public health, environmental sustainability, and social harmony.

Much love,

Jau 💚

... Read moreOkay, so we all know period disposal can feel a bit awkward sometimes, right? But seriously, learning the best ways for wrapping used sanitary pads isn't just about personal comfort; it's a game-changer for hygiene, respect, and even the environment. I used to just fold it up as best I could, but after a few less-than-pleasant experiences (hello, unexpected smells and messes!), I realized there’s a real art to it. One of the most common questions I hear is about wrapping used sanitary pads in toilet paper. It's super effective and often the most accessible option in most restrooms. Here’s my go-to method: First, fold the used pad lengthwise, sticky side in. Then, starting from one end, tightly roll it up. Grab a good amount of toilet paper – I’m talking several layers, not just a single sheet! Wrap it snugly around the rolled pad, making sure no blood or bodily fluids are exposed. The goal is to completely contain the pad, keeping everything clean and preventing the spread of bacteria and other pathogens. This also really helps with odor control, making the disposal area more pleasant for everyone, including those who use the same restroom or trash bin. But what if you run out of toilet paper, or it’s not enough? Don't panic! Most pads come with their own individual wrappers, which are perfect for re-wrapping. Just use the fresh pad's wrapper to secure the used one. If that’s not an option, a paper towel, a tissue, or even a spare piece of newspaper can work in a pinch. The key is secure containment. I've even started carrying small, opaque disposal bags in my period kit for extra discretion and peace of mind when I'm out and about. These are great for ensuring proper disposal, especially in public restrooms where bins might not be emptied as frequently. Beyond just making things neater, proper disposal is a huge sign of respect. It shows you care about others who share the space, whether it's your family at home, roommates, or strangers in a public restroom. Nobody wants to encounter an unwrapped pad in the trash bin, and let's be real, waste management workers have a tough enough job already. By wrapping pads securely, we make it easier for them to handle and process trash, contributing to a good for the environment practice. It means they don't have to deal with unsightly messes or potential biohazards, which is a small but significant way we can show consideration for their work. Remember, no matter how well you’ve wrapped it, used pads should never be flushed down the toilet. They're designed to absorb liquids, which means they expand and can easily cause blockages in plumbing systems, leading to costly and inconvenient issues. Always dispose of them in a designated trash bin. It's a simple habit, but it has such a positive impact on personal and public health, environmental sustainability, and overall social harmony. So let’s all do our part and keep those pads neatly wrapped!
