... Read moreThinking about a December escape? Let me tell you why San Juan, Puerto Rico, especially around the holidays, is an absolute dream! When I was planning my trip for December 2025, I specifically looked for a place where I could ditch the winter chill and embrace some sunshine, and San Juan truly delivers. The weather in December is just perfect – think warm, sunny days with a gentle breeze, ideal for exploring or just relaxing by the water. It’s outside of hurricane season, so you can generally expect clear skies, making it an excellent time to visit. What really sealed the deal for me was knowing that San Juan lights up for the holidays. Imagine walking through Old San Juan with historic buildings adorned with festive decorations, hearing traditional parranda music, and soaking in that unique Caribbean Christmas spirit. It's such a vibrant time to experience the local culture, from the delicious holiday foods to the lively festivals. And speaking of luxury, the Fairmont El San Juan looks absolutely incredible! From what I've seen, it's not just a hotel; it's a whole experience. The images I saw literally had me dreaming of lounging by their multiple stunning swimming pools, surrounded by lush palm trees, with the ocean just steps away. Picture yourself sipping a cocktail with that breathtaking view – pure bliss! The rooms, like the one with two queen beds, seem so comfortable and stylish, perfect for unwinding after a day of adventure. Plus, the distinctive blue hexagonal patterned carpet adds such a chic touch. I can't wait to check out the view from my window, whether it's the city lights or the resort grounds. Beyond the pools and beach, the Fairmont El San Juan offers so much more. I'm really looking forward to trying out their outdoor dining areas, enjoying a meal under the stars with the sounds of the resort around me. And for some evening fun, knowing there's a luxurious casino floor with rows of slot machines and elegant chandeliers means I've got entertainment right at my fingertips. It’s going to be a fantastic base for exploring. When you're not soaking up the resort life, San Juan in December has endless possibilities. A stroll through Old San Juan is a must – the colorful colonial architecture, the historic forts like El Morro, and the charming cobblestone streets are so picturesque. You absolutely have to try the local cuisine; mofongo is a personal favorite, and if you can find some lechón (roasted pork), you're in for a treat! The beaches like Isla Verde and Condado are perfect for swimming, sunbathing, or just watching the waves. A little tip for planning: December is a popular time, so booking flights and accommodations early, like this package for Dec 18-23, 2025, is super smart. Pack light summer clothes, your favorite swimwear, and maybe a light jacket for cooler evenings. Getting around is easy with taxis or ride-sharing apps, or you can rent a car if you plan to explore beyond San Juan. And the best part for my fellow US citizens? No passport needed, making it such a hassle-free international-feeling getaway! It's truly the perfect escape to end the year on a high note.
