Apps I Hide on My iPhone 🤫

POV: You’re like me and your brain completely forgets the Hidden folder exists… so bye-bye distractions 😌

I only hide my social media apps — not because I don’t use them, but because I definitely do. Too much.

So I trick myself. If I can’t see it, I won’t scroll it. Out of sight, out of mind, out of screen time 💅🏽

Hidden apps include:

📍Instagram

📍BIGO

📍Text App

📍Snapchat

📍Facebook

📍Twitter (because I refuse to call it X)

📍Bluesky

Do you hide apps too? Or do you let the chaos live on your Home Screen?

... Read moreIt's incredible how much a cluttered iPhone home screen can impact your focus, right? I totally get it! Like the original post, I found myself constantly drawn to distracting apps, especially social media. But discovering the power of iOS’s built-in features for managing apps has been a game-changer for my daily productivity and overall well-being. If you're wondering how to achieve that 'out of sight, out of mind' magic, let me walk you through it! First off, the simplest way to get those tempting apps off your main view is to utilize the 'Remove from Home Screen' option. You don't have to delete an app entirely to banish it from your immediate sight. Simply long-press on any app icon that's causing you distraction. A menu will pop up, and you'll see 'Remove App.' Tap that, and then choose 'Remove from Home Screen.' Voila! The app disappears from your Home Screen but remains safely tucked away in your App Library. This is where your iPhone automatically organizes all your applications into categories – it's like your personal, organized 'hidden folder' for everything. You can find your social media apps like Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat waiting for you there, but they won't be screaming for attention every time you unlock your phone. The App Library itself is a fantastic tool for digital decluttering. Just swipe all the way to the right past your last Home Screen page, and there it is! You can even use the search bar at the top to quickly find an app if you really need it, instead of mindlessly scrolling. This strategic hiding makes you consciously decide to open an app, rather than subconsciously tapping it out of habit. Now, about 'Face ID and hide' – while iOS doesn't have a direct feature to hide individual apps using Face ID, it plays a massive role in securing your device and, by extension, your app management. Your Face ID protects your phone from unauthorized access, meaning those hidden apps are only accessible by you. But here's a pro tip for truly locking down distractions: leverage 'Screen Time' in your iPhone settings. You can set 'App Limits' for specific categories, like 'Social Networking,' or for individual apps. Once your daily limit is up, Face ID (or your passcode) is required to grant you more time. This is incredibly effective for apps like Twitter or even a text app if you find yourself overusing it. It adds an extra layer of intentionality before you dive back into endless scrolling. My personal experience? Since adopting this method, my screen time has significantly decreased, and I feel so much more in control of my day. I've curated my main Home Screens to only show apps that contribute positively to my immediate tasks or offer genuine utility, leaving the more distracting ones in the App Library. It’s not about never using these apps, but about using them mindfully. Give it a try – you might be surprised how much peace of mind and productivity you gain just by a few taps!
