Tried FaeFarm for 2 Hours… Here’s How It Went 🌱

☀️ Thought I’d be moving into a cozy farm life… but here’s what happened.

📸 This carousel includes:

1. My first farm setup

2. Early-game characters

3. The quests I completed (none, started one, though)

💜 Mini Must-Knows:

- Tutorial pacing is slow — be patient

- Beautiful art style, but gameplay loop didn’t click for me

- Perfect for players who love crafting + farming grind

🪴 Save this if you’re deciding whether to start FaeFarm.

... Read moreWhen I first dove into Fae Farm, like many, I was enchanted by the promise of a whimsical world ripe for exploration alongside cozy farming. My initial hours were heavily guided by quests like 'From Humble Beginnings,' which involved essential tasks like retrieving turnip seeds from my storage shed and crafting soil beds for planting. While these early steps are crucial for setting up your farm, I initially wondered: "Where's the grand exploration I was hoping for?" It felt more like a structured tutorial than an open adventure. What I quickly learned is that Fae Farm's exploration in the early game isn't about vast open-world discovery right from the get-go. Instead, it’s a more gradual unveiling, tied closely to your progression through the main story quests. The vibrant, fantastical world you see on the title screen, with its colorful characters and charming art style, definitely sets a magical tone. Even simple tasks feel a bit more enchanting because of the beautiful visual design. My in-game view often centered around my character near the farmhouse, focusing on getting those initial tasks done. But as I completed small objectives, new paths and areas subtly began to open up. For example, clearing certain obstacles or reaching new milestones in the 'From Humble Beginnings' quest line would grant access to different biomes or dungeons. This phased approach to exploration can feel a bit slow at first, especially if you're used to games that throw you into a wide-open map immediately. Don't be discouraged by the slow tutorial pacing; it's designed to ease you into the world. Here are a few things I found helpful for making the most of early exploration in Fae Farm: Follow the Story Quests Diligently: While it might seem counter-intuitive for "exploration," the main quests are your absolute best friends here. They not only introduce you to key characters like Mayor Merritt but also provide the essential tools and unlock the areas necessary for deeper exploration. You won't be venturing far or accessing many exciting new places without progressing through these initial steps. Think of them as guided tours that eventually lead to true freedom of movement. Gather Everything You See: As you move through the initial areas, even if it's just to retrieve items from your shed or plant seeds, keep an eye out for every type of resource. Wood, stone, flowers, and other foraging items are abundant and absolutely crucial for crafting and upgrading. Every corner, every small path, often hides something useful. This makes even short trips feel like mini-expeditions with tangible rewards. Prepare for Longer Journeys: As new areas open up, you'll want to stay out longer. I quickly realized the importance of bringing food for energy and carrying extra tools. Running out of energy halfway through a dungeon or having a pickaxe break when you're far from home can be a real setback. Planning your inventory before heading out makes exploration much more efficient and enjoyable. Talk to Every NPC: Non-player characters often have dialogue that hints at new areas, challenges, or resources. They make the world feel alive and can sometimes point you towards something you might have otherwise missed. The early-game characters are particularly good at setting the scene and guiding your initial steps, sometimes even offering small side quests that lead you to new spots. Embrace the "Grind" as Part of Exploration: The original article mentioned a "crafting + farming grind," and indeed, exploration often ties into this. You explore to find resources for crafting, and you craft to improve your tools, which then allows you to explore more effectively (e.g., better axes for stronger trees, stronger pickaxes for tougher rocks). It's a cyclical process where exploration fuels the grind, and the grind enables further, more efficient exploration. What I personally found was that once I adjusted my expectations from immediate, boundless exploration to a more structured unfolding, I began to appreciate the world's charm more fully. The game slowly builds up your capability to explore, providing new ways to traverse the land and delve into its mysteries. So, if you're like me and wondering about exploration in Fae Farm, remember that it's a gradual journey. Stick with the early quests, take your time gathering, and soon enough, that vibrant, fantastical world will truly open up for you, revealing its hidden depths beyond the initial farm setup.
