Why Your Makeup Isn’t Lasting

I love getting my makeup done, but let’s be real—the cost can definitely add up. So I decided to invest in a one-on-one makeup class—and it was a game changer.

Here are my top takeaways:

✨ Skin Prep = Everything

Makeup sits better and lasts longer on hydrated, primed skin. I was surprised (and impressed) to see my MUA still using Pond’s for added moisture! And the E.L.F. Power Grip Primer? Hydrating and makes my makeup pop—without that heavy feeling on my skin.

🎨 Brush Grip 101

All grips are not created equal 😩

Hold near the front for precision (like eyeliner), and farther back for a softer blend (think blush or bronzer). Small shift—big difference.

🧁 Powder = Power

Now one of my favorite steps. I add powder under my eyes (since that area moves a lot). I apply with a brush first—to avoid shocking the cream—then press it in with one of those cute triangle puffs.

💦 The Final Step

A good setting spray is the finishing touch that pulls everything together. It melts the powder into your skin and helps your look last all day.

I’m still perfecting my routine, but this class really leveled me up. If you’re on a makeup journey, I highly recommend taking one.

Pond's cream provides excellent moisture while E.L.F.'s Power Grip Primer boosts makeup application without heaviness. Next, mastering brush techniques can elevate your application. Brushes should be held differently based on the look you're aiming for: for precision in lines or softer blends in larger areas. This small adjustment can have a significant impact on your overall look. Don't overlook the importance of setting powder. Using a finely milled powder under the eyes can prevent creasing, especially in areas that experience movement. After applying powder with a brush, press it gently into the skin with a triangle puff for a perfect finish. Lastly, a good setting spray is crucial. It not only locks in your makeup but also merges powders with the skin, giving it a more natural appearance while ensuring durability throughout the day. With these professional tips, anyone can achieve a seamless and long-lasting makeup look!
