How Long Before You Know a Product Works?

I am on a mission to decrease the size of my pores around my cheek bones! In another lemon8 post a user suggested these pads and I’m going to give them a try!

I’ve only used them one time and the steps are pretty simple

1. Use the embossed side to apply the products form the center of your face outward

2. Use the smooth side to hydrate and refine skin texture

3. Pat in any access product

I don’t want to spend a ton of money on products unless they actually work so I’m going to make sure I’m consistent

Now my question is … how long should you actually test a skincare product to see if it works?

... Read moreWhen it comes to reducing the appearance of large pores, consistency and patience are key. From personal experience trying medicube ZERO PORE PAD, which combines exfoliating ingredients like AHA and BHA with hydrating components such as panthenol and sodium hyaluronate, I've learned that noticeable changes typically take at least 4 to 6 weeks. This timeframe allows the skin’s natural cell turnover cycle to fully respond to the product's benefits. The unique dual-sided design of the pads makes it easier to both exfoliate and hydrate effectively: embossing side for deeper exfoliation and smooth side to calm and refine the skin surface. Using the pads as directed, starting from the center of the face outward, ensures even application covering all problem zones. It's important not to rush the process or expect overnight results. Factors like skin type, product formulation, and environmental conditions affect how quickly you see improvements. Also, sticking to a consistent routine without mixing too many new products helps in identifying what truly works for your skin. During the first week or two, you might experience mild purging or increased sensitivity, especially with active ingredients like AHA/BHA. This is normal and often signals the product is working beneath the surface. However, if irritation worsens, it might be worth consulting a dermatologist. Lastly, complementing the medicube pads with regular moisturizing and sun protection is essential to maintain skin health and maximize pore refinement results. Overall, adopting a realistic expectation—about a month or more—is the best approach to evaluating skincare effectiveness for large pores.

Hi love! Derm here 🫶 For skincare products, it usually takes about 4–8 weeks of consistent use to really know if they’re working, especially for concerns like enlarged pores and skin texture. Pores can appear larger from excess oil, congestion, or loss of skin elasticity, so consistency is key ✨ I’d focus on gentle exfoliation and hydration while avoiding over-scrubbing or trying too many new products at once. Ingredients like niacinamide, salicylic acid, and retinoids can really help refine the look of pores over time. Hope this helps! 💙

I feel like a lot of people switch products way too fast and expect instant results. Most skincare products need at least a few weeks before you can really tell if they’re helping your skin or not.
