Free Will and True Love
A snippet of my personal journey of healing from childhood trauma and how studying Genesis has transformed my understanding of love.
God never forced love — and that's what changed everything for me. From the very beginning, He gave us a choice. And somehow I missed that while spending years thinking I had to over-give just to be loved. Turns out... I could walk away. I could choose myself. God honors free will, not pressure. So if it's forced, it's not love — and it's definitely not Him.

Healing from childhood trauma is a deeply personal and ongoing journey. What resonated with me profoundly was the concept that love is never forced or coerced, but given freely. This understanding, rooted in the teachings of Genesis, helped me see that God respects our free will above all. For years, I mistakenly believed that to be loved, I had to give more than I could, often sacrificing my own needs. But learning that I have the choice to walk away and prioritize myself was liberating. Choosing oneself does not mean selfishness; it means honoring the dignity and value that God has placed within each of us. When we accept that love cannot be forced, we begin to recognize healthy relationships — those founded on mutual respect and authentic caring rather than obligation or pressure. This perspective was crucial in my healing process. It shifted my mindset from feeling trapped by the expectations of others to embracing the freedom God offers. Each day, I practice setting boundaries that protect my wellbeing, affirming that true love is an intentional, voluntary act. For anyone on a similar healing path, remember that free will is a sacred gift. It empowers you to choose love that uplifts you and to release what diminishes your spirit. Trust that God honors your choices and that your journey toward self-love and genuine connection is a testament to your resilience and faith.
