A Saturday All-day Bible study
My Bible study is so disorganized and all over the place. I feel like I spent more time trying to find a flow than I should have.
However…..
I feel accomplished to have spent a majority of my day getting closer with God through His word.
(my last video was my biggest takeaway)
I started to study along with a YouTube channel today that I really enjoy, but I think it’s better to read on my own first. Then, supplement with someone else’s commentary.
What are some tips to you can share to help simplify our time spent studying the word? 📚
Spending an entire Saturday diving into Bible study can feel overwhelming if your approach lacks structure, but it can also be one of the most rewarding ways to grow spiritually. From personal experience, the key to simplifying your study lies in creating a manageable flow that blends personal reflection with external insights. First, start your study by selecting a specific book or passage to focus on rather than jumping between various topics. This helps avoid the frustration of feeling scattered and allows your mind to settle into a particular theme or story. For example, studying Genesis sequentially can reveal the unfolding biblical narrative and deeper meanings you might otherwise miss. Before jumping into commentaries or videos, try to read the passage slowly and thoughtfully on your own. This aligns with the idea you mentioned of first engaging personally with the text before supplementing it with others’ interpretations. Jot down any questions or key takeaways as you go—it makes the study time more interactive. Utilizing multimedia resources like YouTube channels dedicated to Bible teaching can bring fresh perspectives and help clarify challenging concepts. Choose trustworthy channels that align with sound doctrine. However, limit their use to complement rather than replace your own reading. Integrating some thematic tags or memory verses can be helpful. For instance, reflecting on concepts such as the "fruit of the Spirit" or God’s covenant with Noah—as seen in your OCR notes—adds richness and connects different parts of Scripture. To keep things organized, consider setting a timer for focused study intervals, followed by short breaks to reflect and pray. This keeps your mind fresh and prevents burnout. Lastly, sharing insights and asking questions in communities, whether online or in-person, can enhance understanding and provide encouragement. The use of hashtags like #biblenerd or #jesusheals shows how connecting with others who share your passion can be motivating. Balancing structure with flexibility allows your Saturday Bible study to be both organized and spiritually fulfilling. With practice, you will find a rhythm that brings peace and clarity to your time with God's word.

I have discovered videos from The Bible Project. If I watch those first, the book, topic or person I’m reading/ studying makes so much more sense. I take notes during the video and when I read, I can pin point the major parts and information they gave in the video- did wonders for me.
