Yoga Flow Diary #3

Today’s practice was different. It was a little more fun. Today i challenged myself to do big crow. There are alot of muscles that must be warmed up in order to hold this pose. It was my first time doing it and felt the fear the breathing stopped and then i lifted off for a half second. Then i realized shit i did it all wrong!! I made two more attempts. Again the breathing stops so i stopped, relaxed and breathe…So i rocked between a frog type pose and my arms collecting the strength while i breathe in and out but i didnt want to face plant so i concentrated just a little harder and i was able to just lift off without rocking but not enough to keep it steady. It was perfect…it is me.

Im grateful for feeling the fire spark in my belly. It’s the small steps to strengthening my core. Now i know what i need to hold instead of my breath. The only intention i built on today was to have fun❤️

... Read moreHey everyone! So, you know how sometimes you just need a quick reset or a burst of energy but only have a few minutes? That's exactly why I've fallen in love with short yoga flows, especially a focused '5-minute yoga flow for strength and flexibility.' It’s amazing how much you can achieve in such a short time, really! I often get asked how to make the most of just five minutes on the mat. My secret? Focus on a 'Fire Flow' sequence that targets key areas like your core and major muscle groups. You don't need a full 25-minute session to feel the burn and build strength, even though I love longer practices too! Here’s a little sequence I often do when I’m short on time, inspired by flows that build strength: Cat-Cow (1 minute): Start on all fours. Inhale, arch your back, lift your gaze (Cow). Exhale, round your spine, tuck your chin (Cat). This warms up your spine and connects breath to movement – super important for setting the tone for your 'fire flow.' Plank (30 seconds to 1 minute): From cat-cow, extend your legs back to a strong plank. Engage your core, keep your body in a straight line from head to heels. This is a fantastic full-body strengthener, especially for igniting that 'fire in the belly' feeling! Remember to breathe steadily. Downward-Facing Dog (1 minute): Push back from plank, lifting your hips high. Pedal out your feet to stretch your hamstrings and calves. It's a great way to lengthen the spine, build upper body strength, and provide a moment of active rest. Low Lunge with Twist (30 seconds per side): Step one foot forward into a low lunge. Keep your back knee down if you need, or lift it for more intensity. Twist your torso towards the front leg, extending one arm up. This really helps open up your hips and spine, contributing to overall flexibility. Core Work (1 minute): Lie on your back. Do some controlled crunches, bicycle kicks, or leg raises. Even just a few rounds can really activate your abdominal muscles, which is key for building the stability needed for more challenging poses and general core strength. Child's Pose or Savasana (30 seconds): Finish with a brief moment of rest. Child's pose is grounding and calming, or lie flat in Savasana to integrate the practice and allow your body to absorb the benefits of your 5-minute yoga flow. The beauty of this 5-minute yoga flow is its versatility. You can adjust it based on how you feel each day, focusing more on strength or flexibility as your body needs. The goal isn't perfection, but consistency and listening to your body. Even a quick session like this can help build the strength and flexibility needed for more challenging poses down the line, and truly sparks that inner fire and helps with focus throughout the day. Give it a try, and let me know how it feels! You'll be surprised by the energy boost!
