I started 2 years ago at 242lbs, right now I’m down to about 185-190 (I don’t have an accurate scale).
My routine will be:
1. Start with healthier breakfast. Overnight oats or protein shakes.
2. Gym 3 times a week!
💪🏻 Stair master on level 6 for 15 minutes. Rest of day will be cardio with either the track or swimming.
💪🏻 Arms, change it up with machines or dumbbells.
💪🏻 Leg day on the last day! Trying to build muscle and slim my legs down.

It’s all about balancing fat loss with targeted muscle gain to create those strong, toned curves. My journey has definitely taught me a lot, and beyond just hitting the gym, nutrition and consistency are huge.
Let’s dive a bit deeper into what I've found works for fueling this kind of transformation. While protein shakes and overnight oats are amazing for a quick, healthy start, what about the rest of the day? I focus on lean proteins like chicken, fish, and tofu, complex carbs like sweet potatoes and brown rice, and plenty of healthy fats from avocados and nuts. Portion control is key, and I try to eat smaller, frequent meals to keep my energy levels up and metabolism humming. Hydration is also a non-negotiable – I aim for at least 2-3 liters of water daily, especially on gym days.
For workouts, especially targeting that 'slim-thick' look, leg day is absolutely crucial. While the stair master is fantastic for cardio and glute activation, for building muscle and shaping, I make sure to incorporate compound movements. Think squats (goblet, sumo, or barbell), deadlifts (Romanian deadlifts are great for hamstrings and glutes), hip thrusts, and lunges. These exercises really challenge the major leg and glute muscles. Varying my routine with different gym equipment ensures my muscles are constantly stimulated, preventing plateaus. For arms, I mix between dumbbell exercises like bicep curls and tricep extensions, and machine work for overall definition.
Cardio, like hitting the track or swimming, is great for overall fitness and fat burning. I try to vary my cardio, sometimes doing steady-state like a long walk or swim, and other times incorporating high-intensity interval training (HIIT) to boost my metabolism. The goal is to burn fat without sacrificing the hard-earned muscle. Tracking my progress isn't just about the scale; I love taking mirror selfies in my athletic wear to see how my body composition is changing – it’s incredibly motivating to see those visual transformations!
Remember, consistency truly is the secret ingredient. There will be days when motivation dips, but showing up, even for a shorter workout, makes a difference. Listen to your body, prioritize sleep for muscle recovery, and celebrate every small victory. It’s a journey, not a race, and every effort brings you closer to your 'slim-thick' summer body goals!
