Sports and physical exercises can help improve academic performance
Research has shown that sports and physical exercise can support student academic performance rather than hinder it. While many students and parents worry that time spent on sports may reduce study time, evidence suggests that regular physical activity is associated with improvements in cognitive function, concentration, memory, and classroom behavior.
Participation in organized sports appears to offer additional benefits. Team sports can develop self-discipline, time-management skills, resilience, communication, and teamwork. Research has also linked participation in sports such as soccer and volleyball with stronger executive function skills, including planning, focus, and decision-making. These skills often transfer to academic settings and support better learning outcomes.
