Outfits I *Actually* Wore in College
Here are some outfits that I *actually* wore when I was in college. I’ve been out of college for two years now (I can’t believe it!)
If you are going to college in the Northeast region of the US, I recommend you bring the following:
🩷A good quality, warm winter jacket
You need this when walking around on campus because it is cold for most of the year.
🧡Flannels or other fall outfit pieces
Going apple picking is a very common activity in the fall in the Northeast!
💛Business/business casual pieces
You will need at least one outfit that you can wear in a business or business casual setting for career fairs or interviews.
💚Sweatshirts and sweatpants
You’ll want to be cozy while working on homework in your dorm room. I also found the dorms at my school to be a bit cold in the winter. You could even bring a matching set if you want to be stylish and comfy at the same time!
💙Bring fun accessories
Tote bags, jewelry - whatever screams *you* that you can easily add to many different outfits.
💜Gym clothes
Staying active is super important, so make sure you have clothes that you you feel confident in to wear to the gym.

As you prepare for your college journey, it's crucial to choose outfits that balance comfort and style. In the Northeast, the winters can be harsh, making a quality winter jacket essential for staying warm while commuting across campus. Layering is key; pairing a graphic tee with a long-sleeve shirt not only keeps you warm but also allows for easy adaptation to fluctuating temperatures. Adding flannels to your wardrobe will ensure you are perfectly dressed for autumn activities like apple picking, a favorite among students. For professional settings, invest in at least one business casual outfit that you can wear to interviews and career fairs. Being prepared can make a significant difference in making a good impression. When it comes to leisure time, cozy sweatshirts and sweatpants are perfect for studying in your dorm or hanging out with friends. Accessorize your outfits with tote bags and jewelry that reflect your personality, letting you express your unique style in any setting. Don't forget to include sporty pieces for gym sessions, as staying active is vital for maintaining your health and well-being during college. Ultimately, your college wardrobe should be versatile, comfortable, and expressive, allowing you to thrive both academically and socially.
