Fortunately, there are several practical steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve these connection problems effectively. First, ensure that Remote Desktop is enabled on your Windows 11 PC. You can do this by pressing Win + I to open Settings, navigating to System, and selecting Remote Desktop. Make sure the toggle for Remote Desktop is switched on. Next, it’s crucial to allow Remote Desktop traffic through the Windows Defender Firewall. Search for "Windows Defender Firewall" in the Start menu, then click "Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall." Locate Remote Desktop and ensure it’s checked for private networks. Another important step is to verify that the Remote Desktop Services startup type is set to Automatic. Open the Run dialog with Win + R, type services.msc, and find Remote Desktop Services. Right-click, choose Properties, and set the Startup type to Automatic, then start the service if it isn’t running already. Don’t forget to turn on Network Discovery, which helps your PC be discoverable on the network.
