Taking a break from drawing: mental health/art

I wrote out in photos the situation. didn't go into full detail of the events that took place this past weekend. just basic info pretty much. It is no one's fault, not even my friend is at fault. love that lady as family as she says that about me. I'm just having issues managing current emotions, and both mental and physical exhaustion. this is not a cry for help or the darker side of mental health, or even excuses (those people.. you know..)

Just stating how I feel. I need a small

break. knowing my disorders.... consider small... relatively small. and would love a long sleep day.

little background unknown but now known to you all:

1. I do not work. in progress with a disability claim..lawyer etc. lawyer told me things are looking good having pcp's form and my psychiatrist's form. I have a copy of both.

2. I have stage 1 (minimal arthritis) with bone spurs on multiple parts of my spine. This started physical therapy in june 2025 to present time.

3. physical therapist found out I have impairment in my SI joint/s. that's where your spine meets up and connects with your pelvic bone. eventually will need an MRI for it, since I'm not improving much. and walking two blocks with my niece on Halloween killed my back for 3 days straight.

4. I've had surjery on my elbow for tennis elbow. got so bad, the muscle or tissue was deteriorating or someth like that. needed cut out, and let new growth come back in. couldn't even hold up a can of soda then.

5. art, creativity, imagination, all of it is important to me. I'm not a realist person, but an imaginist type. the bf is the realist. lol.

6. I'm canceling today's physical therapy and going back to bed. =___=

... Read moreManaging mental health alongside chronic physical conditions can be a challenging balancing act, especially when creativity and art play such a vital role in self-expression and emotional release. It’s completely natural to feel drained both mentally and physically, leading to periods when stepping back from even the most beloved activities, like drawing, becomes necessary. Experiencing a decline in mental health after stressful events, such as interpersonal conflicts or unexpected setbacks, often leaves one feeling a heavy void—this emptiness signals the need for rest and self-care. Many individuals, including those with multiple mental health diagnoses like ADHD, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and dissociative disorders, find that creative outlets help process emotions. However, during low periods, creativity itself can feel blocked, which isn’t a sign of failure but a natural part of healing. Physical ailments such as arthritis and impairments in the SI joint compound difficulties by limiting mobility and increasing pain, further taxing mental endurance. Ignoring these signals can worsen the situation, so prioritizing rest—sometimes extended naps or days off—is essential. Physical therapy can be important but also exhausting, especially when progress stalls. Cancelling therapy sessions to recover is a valid choice and should be embraced without guilt. Understanding and accepting the cyclical nature of health challenges can promote compassion towards oneself. It is also helpful to communicate transparently with close ones, as the post illustrates, to alleviate feelings of isolation. Creative individuals who identify more as 'imaginists' rather than 'realists' may find their internal worlds especially vivid, making emotional struggles even more intense. Embracing this imaginative nature while giving oneself permission to pause can ultimately recharge the creative spirit. In summary, acknowledging mental and physical exhaustion and taking time to rest are crucial steps—not signs of weakness. Mental health awareness includes recognizing when to step back and prioritize healing before returning to passions like art. This honest reflection encourages others navigating similar challenges to honor their needs compassionately while trusting the creative process will return in due time.

i figured I'd share additional details about mtself, that I have currently, since all of it correlates with physical aspect that also affects how mental health playsd out, not just with the drama that happened. so many factors come into play at many areas. i can't wait to get back to coloring/finalizing this artwork I've shared the past few days.
