Replying to @drippywoof Sarah Palin makeup tutorial ??? (original by @pinko) #makeup #makeuptutorial #makeupfail #lipstain #cosplaymakeup
Okay, you guys have probably seen my recent post about my epic makeup fail, the one that everyone said was giving 'Sarah Palin makeup' vibes. Honestly, when I first saw that viral trick of using lip stain for contour, I was so intrigued! I mean, who doesn't love a multi-purpose product, right? My goal was to get that effortlessly chiseled look, similar to what I’d seen @pinko do in her original video. I thought, 'Hey, why not give it a shot?' I was really hoping for a subtle, natural-looking contour, something to define my face without feeling heavy. But let me tell you, things took a very different turn. I remembered seeing the advice about "skin prep" being crucial, and I thought I did a good enough job, but maybe I rushed it. I grabbed my trusty lip stain, thinking I could just blend it out like a dream. Instead, it went on incredibly "super patchy." I tried to blend, and blend, and blend, but it just wouldn't budge. Then, to make matters worse, I decided to try and incorporate some red eyeliner – yes, red eyeliner – to add a bit more definition. Big mistake! My red eyeliner was already "drying out," which made it even harder to work with. The whole area around my eyes and cheekbones started looking "dark AF and patchy AF." The end result? My face was "super duper red," and not in a cute, rosy way. More like, 'I just ran a marathon in a blizzard' kind of red. I tried to cover it with foundation, but it just made it look muddy and even more uneven. I honestly didn't have time to fix it properly because I was running late to something. You heard correctly – I "went outside looking like this"! I was so mortified. My friends "called it out" immediately, and even my boss, bless her heart, gently inquired if I was feeling okay. Then, the TikTok comments started rolling in, with someone even calling it out there. The general consensus was, 'It’s giving Sarah Palin makeup,' and that was definitely not the look I was going for! If there's one thing I learned from this "makeup fail," it's that not all viral trends are meant for everyone, and sometimes, sticking to traditional methods is best. For those of you wanting to try unconventional contouring, maybe start with a very small amount and on a less visible area. And please, please, make sure your products aren't "drying out" before you experiment! If you're going for a defined look, consider proper contour sticks or powders designed for the face. And for goodness sake, if you're trying a new, bold look, allow yourself ample time for potential "makeup fail" recovery! I'm still laughing about it now, but in the moment, it was quite the experience. I'm taking a break from trying anything new for a while!
