Stained Glass Urn
I started by cutting 4 larger and 2 smaller pieces of glass. I made sure to make sure the sizes were all the same. I used a glass grinder to smooth out the edges. I then used copper foil to edge all pieces. Then I used soldering iron to put it together. This was for my dog that passed away recently. Hope you like my first try at stained glass making!

Creating a stained glass urn is a meaningful and artistic way to honor the memory of a beloved pet. This craft involves several important steps that ensure both beauty and durability. Begin by selecting the type and color of glass that best represents your vision. Cutting the glass pieces to uniform sizes is key — use a quality glass cutter and measure carefully to maintain symmetry. After cutting, a glass grinder is essential to smooth and refine the edges, preventing sharpness and ensuring the pieces fit together seamlessly. The next step involves applying copper foil tape along the edges of each glass piece. This acts as a surface for solder to adhere to, which is crucial for the structural integrity of the urn. Careful wrapping of copper foil without wrinkles or gaps is recommended for optimal soldering results. Using a soldering iron, join the copper-foiled glass pieces together by melting solder along the seams. This technique requires patience and steady hands to create clean, strong joints without burning the glass or copper foil. This handcrafted stained glass urn not only serves as a beautiful memorial but also as a symbol of love and remembrance. By dedicating time and attention to each step — from cutting to soldering — you craft a lasting tribute that reflects personal creativity and deep emotion. Additionally, incorporating vibrant colors and patterns can enhance the visual impact, while sealing the finished urn with a protective coating helps preserve it over time. Whether you are new to stained glass or advancing your skills, this project combines technical techniques and heartfelt meaning to create a unique keepsake.
