Please Read post!I promise you won’t regret it! I love being a mom!

Because it’s the last two weeks of MY DAUGHTER’S summer vacation, I like to let her watch a little TV—about an hour before bed.

Now, my baby really isn’t that into TV like that anyway. 😂 But it’s Sunday, summer is almost over, and I said, “What the heck, why not?”

So as I’m getting ready for bed, I tell her, “Hey, why don’t you watch some cartoons before you go to bed? That might be nice to help you wind down.”

She looks at me and says, “No. I’m gonna watch some grown-up stuff.”

👀 I said, “What kind of grown-up stuff?” because now I’m curious. 🧐

My baby is NOT a grown 10-year-old. She is still very much a kid, so I’m all ears waiting to hear where this conversation is about to go.

Then she looks me in BOTH my eyes and with the most serious face, and said; I’m about to watch some BREAKING NEWS… and turns on CNN. 😭😭😭😂😂😂

I COULD NOT CONTROL MY LAUGH!

My baby was dead serious about her “grown-up stuff.” 😂😂😂

But honestly, I expected nothing less from the child who watches Murder, She Wrote with her mama. 😂❤️

This is my girl. 🥰💜

... Read moreAs a mom who treasures these fleeting moments of summer with my kids, I can totally relate to the experience of allowing them a little extra screen time as a treat. Watching the transition from cartoons to what my daughter called "grown-up stuff" was both surprising and hilarious because, honestly, many kids are fascinated by the things adults watch, even if they don't fully understand them. It’s a funny reflection of how children mimic adult behavior and seek to explore the world from their own lens, sometimes in unexpected ways—like wanting to watch breaking news instead of cartoons. This quirky moment also highlights an important aspect of parenting: balancing screen time limits with supporting their curiosity and independence. I've found that embracing these little surprises makes parenting all the more rewarding. Moreover, sharing shows like "Murder, She Wrote" together has been a delightful bonding experience, blending family time with entertainment. It’s moments like these that remind me how motherhood is full of laughter, teaching, and growing up together. For other parents approaching the end of summer vacation or just navigating daily routines, consider these experiences as precious opportunities to connect with your child’s unique personality and interests. Let them lead the way sometimes, and cherish the giggles and serious faces alike!
