[Preservation version] Little-known spot in Onomichi! Superb view of the seaside too emo Torii
Itsukushima Shrine in Iwako Island! ⛩
On my trip to Onomichi in Hiroshima Prefecture, I went to the torii gate on the seaside of Iwako Island in Mukaijima!
This vermilion torii gate, in front of the sea was really too superb view!
We arrived on June 1, 2025 at around 8am and the weather was great 💕
This is a little-known spot that is different from the famous Miyajima Itsukushima Shrine 🙌
If the timing is right, the torii seems to be floating in the sea!
I asked my sister to be a model and shot it, but this is the point of taking pictures 👇
Utilizing the backlight, aim for a composition where light shines from the torii (3rd photo).
・ Put in the vast sky and sea and take a picture to give a sense of openness (photo 2).
・ You can enjoy the superb view of both the torii floating in the sea at high tide and the torii standing on the sandy beach at low tide!
Even though it was such a nice place, there were few people, so I could take pictures slowly 😊

・ Car: After getting off at Shimanami Kaido "Mukaijima IC," cross the Mukaijima Bridge and drive for about 5 minutes. Free parking is available.
・ Train + Ferry: Take a ferry from JR Onomichi Station to Mukojima, then take a taxi.

Note: At high tide, the torii seems to float on the sea, making it a great spot to take pictures.
It is also famous as a location for the movie "Otokotachi no Yamato."

私が行って感じたのは、岩子島の厳島神社の鳥居は「いつ行くか」で印象がかなり変わること。検索でも多い“海に浮かぶ鳥居”“光が差し込む鳥居”を狙うなら、潮位と太陽の位置をざっくり押さえるだけで満足度が上がりました。 ■満潮/干潮で見え方が変わる（ここが一番大事） ・満潮：鳥居の足元まで水が来ると、鳥居が海に浮かんでいるように見えて一気に神秘的。波が穏やかな日は、水面が鏡っぽくなって写真が盛れました。 ・干潮：砂浜に鳥居が立つ感じになって、歩いて近づきやすい＆構図の自由度が高いです。砂の模様や足跡も写せるので、旅の記録感が出ました。 →行く前に「尾道（または向島）の潮見表」を軽くチェックするのがおすすめ。私は“到着した時間がたまたま良かった”タイプですが、次は狙って行きたいと思いました。 ■「神社×鳥居×光が差し込む」を撮りたい人向けのコツ ・逆光の時間帯が当たり：鳥居の向こうに太陽が来る角度だと、鳥居越しに光が差し込む写真が撮れます。扁額（鳥居の額）あたりがふわっと輝く瞬間があって、肉眼でも綺麗でした。 ・露出は少し暗め：スマホならタップして明るさを少し下げると、光芒（光の筋）が出やすい印象。人物を入れるならシルエットが映えます。 ・広角で“海と空”を大きく：海・遠くの島々まで入れると、尾道らしい多島美が伝わって開放感が出ました。 ■夕方に行くなら（“海に浮かぶ鳥居 夕方”対策） 夕方は空の色が変わってドラマチック。人がさらに減る日もあって、静かな雰囲気で撮れました。ただ、日没が近いと足元（砂浜）が暗くなりやすいので、歩きやすい靴と、スマホのナイトモード頼りすぎないのが安心です。 ■「いくしじま神社？」と迷ったとき 検索で“いくしじま神社”表記を見かけることがありますが、現地は「岩子島の厳島神社」を目印にするとスムーズ。ナビは住所（広島県尾道市向島町岩子島1944）で入れるのが確実でした。 ■参拝の雰囲気・ちょっとしたマナー 海辺の鳥居は撮影スポットとして人気だけど、神社なので一礼してから境内に入ると気持ちよく過ごせました。鳥居の近くは足場が変わりやすいので、満潮時は特に無理に近づかないのが安全です。 尾道観光で“人が少ない絶景の鳥居”を探しているなら、岩子島の厳島神社はかなり刺さると思います。次は潮位と夕方の光を狙って、もう一回撮りに行きたい場所でした。
