vanilla iced chai latte with caramel cold foam 💛
this is so easy to make this at home!! I can’t believe I’ve been spending so much money on Starbucks every week when I could have been doing this all along 😭 I am obsessed with chai lattes and have been getting Starbucks at least twice every week, but we all know how expensive Starbucks is, so I finally accepted the fact that I’m broke and need to start making them at home if I want to be able to buy any Christmas gifts this year ☠️
here’s the recipe!
for the cold foam:
🍋1/4 cup heavy cream
🍋1 tablespoon caramel syrup
🍋2 tablespoons milk
add heavy cream, caramel syrup, and milk into a small cup. then froth for 20 seconds! In this video I used an electric milk frother from Zulay Kitchen - it’s linked on my Amazon storefront along with the syrups and chai concentrate I used! (link in bio)
I like to make the cold foam first so that I can just pour it on top of my chai latte right away.
for the chai latte:
🍋2 ice cubes (or however many you want lol)
🍋1 tablespoon vanilla syrup
🍋~1/4 cup chai concentrate
🍋~1 cup milk
add chai concentrate, vanilla syrup, and milk into a large cup. mix slowly with a spoon. add ice cubes. I didn’t really use exact measurements for the milk or chai concentrate, but it should be about 1/3 chai, 2/3 milk. make sure to leave about 1 inch of room at the top of your cup for the cold foam!
enjoy! hope this saves you a buck or two 🤩

Ever since I started making my favorite iced vanilla chai latte with caramel cold foam at home, my coffee shop budget has thanked me immensely! But beyond the cost savings, there's a unique satisfaction that comes with crafting your perfect drink. You get to control every ingredient, ensuring it’s just the way you like it, and trust me, it often tastes even better than what you'd get out. Let's talk about that glorious cold foam first. The recipe calls for 1/4 cup heavy cream and 2 tablespoons milk, along with a tablespoon of caramel syrup. The trick to getting that perfect, thick, and luscious foam is ensuring your cream and milk are very cold. I keep mine in the fridge until the last moment. When you froth, whether you’re using a dedicated electric milk frother (which, honestly, is a game-changer for speed and consistency!) or even a small whisk or French press, aim for about 20-30 seconds until it’s visibly thickened and airy. If your cold foam isn't frothing well, make sure your ingredients are chilled and try frothing in a taller, narrower container to give the frother more to work with. Some non-dairy milks, like oat milk or certain almond milks, can also create a decent foam, though it might be a bit lighter than with heavy cream. Experiment to find your favorite! Now for the chai latte itself. The original recipe suggests about 1/4 cup chai concentrate and 1 cup milk, with 1 tablespoon vanilla syrup. This ratio (1/3 chai, 2/3 milk) is a great starting point, but don't be afraid to adjust! Different brands of chai concentrate have varying levels of spice and sweetness. Tazo and Oregon Chai are popular choices, but explore local brands for unique flavor profiles. If you like a stronger, spicier chai, add a little more concentrate; for a milder taste, increase the milk. Similarly, the vanilla syrup can be adjusted to your sweetness preference. Sometimes I add an extra splash if I'm feeling a particularly sweet treat. Speaking of milk, while dairy milk provides a classic creamy texture, many enjoy this latte with alternatives. Oat milk gives it a wonderfully rich and slightly nutty flavor, almond milk keeps it lighter, and soy milk adds its own unique creaminess. Each one brings something different to the table, so don't hesitate to try a few to find your personal best. Want to get even more creative? Consider adding a pinch of cinnamon or a tiny grating of fresh nutmeg to your chai concentrate for an extra layer of warmth. Or, swap out the vanilla syrup for a pump of hazelnut or gingerbread syrup for seasonal twists! And finally, a small but important detail: remember to leave about an inch of room at the top of your cup before adding your cold foam. This ensures you have plenty of space for that beautiful, frothy topping without it overflowing when you add it. It's these little details that make your homemade iced chai latte feel just as luxurious as a coffee shop creation. Enjoy experimenting and sipping on your custom-made perfection!
