... Read moreYou guys, I am still reeling from the Onyx Storm saga update, or rather, my personal struggle to even get the book! Like many of you, I've been absolutely swept away by Rebecca Yarros's Empyrean series, starting with *Fourth Wing*. The dragons, the Riders, the intense world-building – it’s all just chef’s kiss! So, when Onyx Storm was announced, I was counting down the days.
My excitement turned into pure frustration when I realized how incredibly popular this book was. I swear, it feels like every Target in my area was instantly sold out! I saw posts about copies flying off shelves faster than a dragon on a caffeine high. It’s such a bittersweet feeling, right? You’re thrilled for an author you love, seeing them become a *NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING REBECCA YARROS*, but then you're left scrambling to get your hands on a copy.
I tried several local bookstores, hoping to snag one, but no luck. It was a proper hunt, I tell you! Finally, I decided to just bite the bullet and order it from Barnes and Nobles online. Now, the waiting game begins. The absolute hardest part is dodging spoilers! Seriously, if you've read it, please, no spoilers! I want to experience every twist and turn fresh, especially after the cliffhanger from *Fourth Wing*. I've heard whispers of intense revelations and beloved characters facing unimaginable challenges, maybe even hints of the 'GODKILLER' prophecy or needing to 'BRAVE THE DARK' – but that's all I want to know for now!
For anyone else struggling to find highly anticipated releases like *Onyx Storm*, here are a few tips I've picked up from fellow bookworms:
Pre-order is your best friend: This is something I definitely learned for next time. Pre-ordering ensures you get a copy on release day, and often at a discount.
Check independent bookstores: Sometimes the big chains sell out, but smaller, local shops might still have stock.
Library waitlists: If waiting isn't an issue, put yourself on your local library's waitlist. You'll get it eventually for free!
E-book or audiobook options: If physical copies are scarce, digital versions are usually available immediately. Not the same as holding a physical copy, but it satisfies the craving!
Set stock alerts: Some online retailers allow you to sign up for email notifications when a product is back in stock.
The hype around Onyx Storm is completely justified, and it just shows how much love there is for this incredible fantasy world. I can’t wait to dive back into the Empyrean and see what adventures await. Hopefully, my copy arrives soon, and I can finally join in on all the discussions (spoiler-free, of course!). What are your thoughts on book release day chaos, and how do you usually get your hands on must-read books?
