im just genuinely that type of person

2025/12/27 Edited to

... Read moreOkay, so I've been seeing a lot of talk about 'all kinds of girls,' and honestly, I think I fit squarely into what some might call the 'Angela' type. You know the one – the person who, despite being hurt a million times, would still genuinely be there for you if you needed them. It's a tough confession, but it's my truth, and seeing that specific line, '&CopCute Unfortunately I'm the Person u can hurt a Million times and I'd Still be there for u If you needed me,' truly resonated with me. It’s not always a choice; sometimes, it just feels ingrained. It's a strange feeling, this deep-seated loyalty that seems to override every logical instinct. I've been in situations where I've given so much, only to receive very little in return, or worse, to be actively let down. Yet, there's always this part of me that thinks, 'But what if they really need me this time?' or 'Maybe I can help them see things differently.' It’s like an endless cycle of hoping for a different outcome, even when the past has shown a clear pattern. This isn't about being naive; it's about a core belief in people, sometimes to my own detriment. I often wonder why I'm like this. Is it a fear of abandonment? A desperate need to be seen as reliable or kind? Or maybe it’s just how I’m wired – an empath to a fault, perhaps, always looking for the good in others, even when it’s hard to find. I've had friends and family tell me I need to be tougher, to put myself first, and they're not wrong. Intellectually, I understand the importance of boundaries. But emotionally, it feels like I’m betraying a fundamental part of myself if I just walk away, especially when someone is struggling. The guilt can be immense. The hardest part is the emotional toll it takes. Constantly being the one who forgives, who understands, who makes excuses for others’ behavior – it’s exhausting. You start to question your own judgment, your own worth. You wonder if you’re being naive or just a doormat. It’s a battle between wanting to be a good person and needing to protect your own peace. This kind of unwavering commitment, while noble in theory, can lead to significant emotional burnout if not managed carefully. So, if you're out there and you identify with this 'Angela' type, know that you're not alone. It's a complex trait, born from a good heart, but one that needs careful management. I'm learning (slowly but surely!) that being there for others doesn't have to mean sacrificing myself entirely. It's about finding that balance, understanding that my loyalty is a gift, and it should be given to those who truly appreciate it and reciprocate in their own way. For me, it has meant starting to say 'no' more often, even when it feels uncomfortable, and recognizing that my own well-being is just as important as theirs. It’s a journey of self-discovery, learning to set those boundaries without feeling guilty, and recognizing that protecting your own energy is not selfish, but necessary. What are your thoughts on this? Have you found ways to navigate this type of personality and still maintain your empathetic core?

I genuinely have OCD
OCD isn’t “being neat” or “liking things a certain way.” It’s your brain getting stuck in a loop that says “what if… what if… what if…” until anxiety feels louder than logic. Intrusive thoughts show up uninvited. Compulsions try to quiet them. But relief is temporary, and the cycle learns itself
