Skin picking + anxiety😖#chemicalpeel
Anxiety + skin picking = one heck of a combo 😅 Lately, my skin’s been showing all the signs of stress, so I booked a chemical peel at @BijouSkin to help me get back on track with my skincare goals 💆🏾♀️ #Collaboration
We decided to layer the MandeliClear Peel and the TCA Peel 🧪 This combo was perfect for targeting my clogged pores, clearing breakouts, and fading dark marks and hyperpigmentation🫧
The process took about 5 days to complete. I did experience some purging on day 2 (which is normal during a peel!!), but by day 7, the glow was unreal! ✨
My skin is noticeably smoother, with smaller pores and less congestion around my chin. The dark marks have lightened up, and the biggest difference? My radiance and glow are BACK!
After the major flaky peeling, I had some crumbly peeling around my chin and nose, but the sensitivity wasn’t too bad. Whenever I reapplied my moisturizer and sunscreen, my skin felt great🙌🏾
If you’ve been struggling with breakouts, hyperpigmentation, or just need a reset like me, I can’t recommend this treatment enough! 🩵
It’s safe for all skin tones and truly gives your skin the glow-up it deserves.
Who else feels like their skin reflects their stress sometimes? Drop a ✋🏾 if you can relate!

It's incredible how much our skin can tell the story of our internal struggles, isn't it? For anyone who's ever dealt with the frustrating cycle of skin picking linked to anxiety, and the stubborn hyperpigmentation it leaves behind, you know exactly how challenging it can be to break free and find a reset for your complexion. I've been there, and I know how hard it can be when anxiety takes over, leaving your skin feeling less than its best. That's why exploring solutions like chemical peel treatments can feel like a true game-changer. When we talk about chemical peel reviews, it's important to understand that not all peels are created equal, and what works for one person's pigmentation or texture issues might be different for another. My experience with the layered MandeliClear and TCA peel was specifically tailored for my concerns: clogged pores, breakouts, and those persistent dark marks. Mandelic acid, often found in MandeliClear peels, is known for its larger molecular size, making it a gentler exfoliant that's fantastic for surface brightening and even skin tone, especially for sensitive skin or those prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid) peels, on the other hand, penetrate deeper to address more significant concerns like sun damage, wrinkles, and deeper hyperpigmentation. Sometimes, a Salicylic acid component might also be included, especially if acne or deeper pore cleansing is a major concern, as it gets deep into the pores and helps calm inflammation. If you're looking into chemical peels for issues like hyperpigmentation or marks from skin picking, preparation is key. I learned the importance of following pre-peel instructions carefully, which often includes avoiding certain active ingredients like retinoids or harsh exfoliants for a week or two beforehand. This helps ensure your skin is ready to receive the peel and minimizes potential irritation. Now, let's talk about the 'before and after' journey, which is often what everyone wants to see in reviews. It's a process, and patience is essential. After my peel, I definitely experienced some purging and flaking. This is totally normal and a sign that the peel is working to accelerate cell turnover. The old, damaged skin sheds away, revealing fresh, new skin underneath. For me, day 2 was the purging, and by day 7, the glow was undeniable! The biggest difference I noticed, beyond the lighter dark marks and smoother texture, was the overall radiance and the feeling of a true reset for my skin. Post-peel care is just as crucial as the treatment itself. Immediately after, your skin will be more vulnerable to sun damage, which can actually worsen hyperpigmentation. So, diligent use of a broad-spectrum sunscreen is non-negotiable. Gentle cleansers and rich moisturizers become your best friends, helping your skin heal and stay hydrated. This careful aftercare helps to lock in the positive results and prevent new issues. Beyond peels, managing hyperpigmentation is a continuous effort. Incorporating ingredients like Vitamin C, niacinamide, and gentle retinoids into your regular routine can help maintain your results and continue to fade any lingering dark spots. For those dealing with skin picking and anxiety, remember that while a chemical peel can offer an amazing physical reset and confidence boost, addressing the underlying anxiety through other means, like mindfulness or therapy, is also incredibly valuable for long-term skin health and overall well-being. A visit to a reputable clinic, like my experience at Bijou Skin, can provide personalized advice and ensure you choose the right treatment for your unique skin goals.
