I tested Japanese beauty & skincare for a full year 🇯🇵✨
• Hirosophy Sakura Syn-Ake Eye Patches — 8.5/10
These are really nice for hydration, I just wish they were gel instead of sheet patches for that cooling feel
• Hirosophy Tokyo Caviar Eye Cream — 10/10
So expensive but honestly worth it. Super rich, smooths my under eyes like crazy. Feels very luxurious
• Decorté Liposome Serum — 9.5/10
I use this when my skin needs extra hydration. It’s lightweight, not sticky, and layers really well
• Naturie Hatomugi Gel — 10/10
One of my favorites. Makes my skin look so glowy and healthy + works perfectly under makeup and SPF
• Naturie Hatomugi Skin Conditioner — 9/10
Simple but good. Super Hydrating & refreshing. I put it in a spray bottle and use it every morning
• Biore UV Aqua Rich SPF — 8.5/10
Gives a really nice glow and sits well under makeup, but it stings my eyes and I wish it was fragrance-free
→ I actually liked Beauty of Joseon SPF a little more
• Keana Rice Pack — 7.5/10
It’s fine just not amazing. Hydrating but kind of annoying to wash off
• Orbis Essence Hair Mask — 10/10
Makes my hair sooo soft and easy to manage. I’m glad I brought back 2 tubes of this stuff
• Utena Matomage Wax Stick — 9.5/10
Perfect for slick backs without making my hair look greasy and the hold is strong
• Merit Shampoo Wipes — 2/10
I wanted to like these so bad but no. The smell is strong and my hair looked worse after
• Visee Lip Plumper — 9.5/10
The colors are sooo pretty and the formula is smooth. Doesn’t really plump though. Shades: SP001 & PK801
• Kate Lip Monster — 9/10
Perfect if you want a soft, sheer red. Super easy everyday lip. Shade: 07 final boss
• Nivea Tinted Lip Balm — 9/10
Lightweight, hydrating, and natural. Bordeaux reminds me of Black Honey and Smokey Pink is a nice everyday sheer pink

After trying these Japanese beauty and skincare products extensively for a year, I’ve come to appreciate the thoughtful formulation that often blends gentle ingredients with effective results. One standout for me was the Hirosophy Tokyo Caviar Eye Cream. Despite its higher price, the richness and luxurious texture really transformed my under-eye dryness and fine lines. Japanese skincare typically emphasizes hydration and subtle enhancement rather than aggressive treatment, which perfectly suits my sensitive skin. I also found the Naturie Hatomugi Gel to be a multifunctional star. Its lightweight, non-sticky formula made it excellent not only as a moisturizer but also as a perfect base under makeup and sunscreen. I usually spray the Naturie Hatomugi Skin Conditioner in the morning for a refreshing hydrating boost, which is an easy addition to my routine. These products highlight the Japanese skincare philosophy of layering hydration for a healthy glow. For sun protection, the Biore UV Aqua Rich SPF impressed me with its glowy finish, although it occasionally irritated my eyes. I later switched to Beauty of Joseon SPF, which felt gentler and aligned better with my preferences for fragrance-free formulations. On the haircare front, the Orbis Essence Hair Mask was a game changer—softening my hair and making it manageable even on busy mornings. In contrast, the Merit Shampoo Wipes didn’t meet my expectations due to their strong smell and unsatisfactory performance. Regarding lip products, the Visee Lip Plumper and Kate Lip Monster offered beautiful shades and smooth application. While the plumper didn’t visibly increase fullness, it kept my lips hydrated and comfortably colored. The Nivea Tinted Lip Balm was a reliable, natural-feeling option for everyday use. Overall, the subtle, well-balanced characteristics of these Japanese products suited my skincare style, prioritizing nourishment and natural radiance. This experience reinforced how investing in consistent, high-quality formulations can enhance skin and hair health over time without harsh ingredients or heavy textures.
