January Feels Like Forever: Mama Needs A Break
January feels like the longest month of my life, and I'm completely touched out after spending days on the couch with my sick daughter watching Paw Patrol. I'm desperately needing some alone time, so a closing shift will have to do. I'm looking forward to when the sickness leaves our house so we can get back to normal.

Navigating January with a sick child can truly test any parent's patience and energy. From my own experience, those endless days spent on the couch, often watching the same TV shows on repeat, can leave you physically and emotionally drained. It’s more than just caring for a sick child—it’s about managing the constant worry, disrupted routines, and the deep need for a break that often goes unmet. One strategy I’ve found helpful is carving out small pockets of alone time, even if it means adjusting my work schedule to take a closing shift. This not only gives me a chance to recharge but also helps maintain some semblance of balance between caregiving and personal well-being. Remember, feeling 'touched out' is a real and valid experience, especially during those long stretches when sickness lingers. I also encourage connecting with other parents facing similar struggles through forums or social groups labeled #MomLife, #TouchedOut, and #ParentingStruggles. Sharing stories or even a simple online chat can provide emotional relief and practical tips. Finally, while it’s tough to keep spirits high when normalcy seems distant, focusing on small moments of joy—like a favorite episode of Paw Patrol or a child's smile—can provide hope and remind us that these challenging times are temporary. If you’re in the thick of it, hold on; spring and better days are ahead.

I keep grandbabies during the week and today is Saturday. I’m sitting on my heating pad and I’ve done nothing and it’s 11:37 am. I’m tired and the blinders are on. However, I got way too tickled when the cats tail peaked over the back of the couch. Am I the only one who has to rewind to see what it was? I just found you today but you may be my favorite. 🩷
