Unfortunately, I convince myself I need to handle it alone.

When I’m going through something, I don’t usually reach out.

I get quiet.

I stop posting.

I stop replying.

I disappear for a little while.

Not because I don’t care about the people checking on me.

Sometimes life just gets so loud inside my head that even answering a text feels overwhelming.

The hardest part is knowing people might think I’m pushing them away, when really I’m just trying to find my footing again.

When you’re struggling, do you reach out to people or pull away and deal with it alone? 👇🏼😮‍💨

... Read moreFrom my own experience, when life feels overwhelmingly loud inside my head, the instinct to withdraw becomes almost automatic. It’s not that I don’t appreciate people reaching out—as seen in messages from friends wondering if I’m okay—but sometimes responding feels like too much energy to give. I’ve noticed this tendency especially when I’m caught in a spiral of overthinking or emotional fatigue. Handling struggles alone can feel like a double-edged sword. On one hand, it gives me space to process my thoughts and emotions without external pressure. On the other hand, it can unintentionally create distance from loved ones who want to support me. The hardest part is knowing they might interpret my silence as pushing them away, while I’m merely trying to find my footing. I’ve come to realize that being quiet or disappearing momentarily is a survival strategy—a way to cope when even answering a simple text can feel too overwhelming. However, it’s important to balance this solitude with moments of connection. Sharing even a little about what I’m going through can ease the burden and remind me I’m not alone, despite the intensity of internal struggles. For those who relate, it’s okay to need space, but also allow yourself moments to reach out, whether it’s a quick message or a short conversation. These small gestures can build bridges of understanding and support during trying times. Remember, handling it alone doesn’t always mean you have to do it completely by yourself—sometimes, letting others in quietly can make the journey a bit easier.

I usually deal with it alone, though I do let my friends know I need space. They worry a lot and don't want to cause unnecessary stress for them.
