How I got back into reading! 🌸

I loved reading as a child but as I got older I never read. Then at 22 I got back into it and have stuck

with it since!

Now hear me out!

1. Don’t get me wrong, I still LOVE a good self improvement book here and there! I have read quite a few and have more on my TBR. The issue was that it was the only genre I allowed myself to read therefore making reading more like “studying”. This made it feel more like a chore rather than a hobby and who wants to do chores??& let’s be real.. so many self improvement books are repetitive, like the same messages reworded in a different book. I leaned into genres that really interest me and found that I am a romace girlie!💋(Oh and so many nonfiction books have inspiring themes and lessons woven into them as well!)

2. Whoever thinks audiobooks is not reading please leave lol this is NOT a safe place. On a serious note though, audiobooks are so amazing for us busy girlies! I can listen in my car, while cooking, showering, working (sometimes), etc. Besides the flexibility, audiobooks really allow you to immerse yourself in the story which can enhance the reading experiences.

3. A lot of times when talking about reading I would say, “Oh I don’t have time”. I understand we’re are all busy but realistically most of us have some time. I found time by spending less time mindlessly scrolling social media platforms which has also increased my attention span and benefited my mental health!

4. Apps that have access to more books, help to track books and connect with other readers played a big role in me getting back to reading. Apps like Kindle Unlimited for digital books, Libby for audiobooks, Goodreads for tracking reading, etc. This made reading more accessible for me and made it fun to set a reading goal!

5. I LOVE reading communities. There is no feeling like having a community of like minded people to talk about common interests. I found community in Facebook groups and it’s the perfect place to get recommendations, get REAL reviews and so much other bookish content you didn’t know you needed. It’s like a virtual book club!

... Read moreReading can be a rewarding escape and is essential for mental well-being. Many find that engaging in genres outside of self-improvement can open up exciting new worlds, as they enable the reader to connect with stories that resonate personally. Audiobooks have gained immense popularity due to their convenience, allowing users to enjoy books without setting aside dedicated reading time. Various apps like Kindle Unlimited provide easy access to a vast library of both digital and audio books, making reading more accessible than ever. Additionally, joining book communities, whether online or offline, can significantly enhance the reading experience through shared recommendations and discussions. These platforms often create a supportive environment for readers to share insights, review books, and discover new favorites. If you're looking to get back into reading, cutting down on social media time can free up moments for a chapter or two each day! How did you rekindle your love for books?
