KITCHEN SINK GRANOLA 🥣 save $$$ and make your own granola at home!!

We’re using my patented formula (jk not patented but maybe I should 🤔) that yields crunchy clusters every time 🤝 And it’s super customizable! So just use what you have on hand :) Recipe below!

Kitchen Sink Granola

3 tbsp liquid sweetener (I use honey or maple syrup)

3 tbsp oil (I typically use olive oil)

1/4 cup nut butter (I always use peanut butter, but tahini is also delicious)

2 tbsp chia seeds

flavors of choice (I always add 1 tsp of vanilla bean paste and 1/2 tsp cinnamon)

2 & 1/4 cups rolled oats

1/4 cup superfood (you can use shredded coconut, cacao nibs, flax seeds, etc)

1/4 cup nuts (walnuts, pecans, pistachios, etc)

1/4 cup dried fruit (I always use dates, but raisins are good too)

Preheat your oven to 250F.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sweetener, oil, nut butter, chia seeds, and flavors until smooth. Fold in the oats, superfood, nuts, and dried fruit until evenly coated. Transfer to a lined quarter baking sheet and spread evenly. Place in the oven to bake for 40-50 minutes, or until golden brown.

Let this completely cool and come to room temperature (about 1 hour) before breaking it up.

Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

... Read moreI've been making my own granola for ages, and while the recipe above is my absolute go-to for those perfect crunchy clusters, there are always little tricks and extra ideas that can take your homemade batch from great to absolutely divine! First off, let's talk about getting that perfect crunch. It’s not just about baking time; cooling is crucial! Seriously, resist the urge to break it up too soon. Letting it cool completely at room temperature, undisturbed, is what allows those delicious clusters to really set and harden. I often leave mine overnight on the baking sheet to ensure maximum crunch power. Also, don't overcrowd your baking sheet! If you're doubling the recipe, use two sheets to ensure even baking and better air circulation. An even layer is key for uniform browning and crispiness. Sometimes, I even give it a gentle stir halfway through baking, but don't overdo it if you want big clusters. Customization is the heart of "Kitchen Sink" granola, right? Beyond the basics, think about seasonal flavors. In the fall, I love adding pumpkin pie spice instead of just cinnamon, maybe some dried cranberries and chopped pecans. For a summer vibe, dried blueberries and lemon zest can be amazing! Don't be afraid to experiment with different extracts too – almond extract adds a wonderfully nutty depth, and a tiny bit of coconut extract can really elevate it if you're using shredded coconut. For an extra treat, stir in some chocolate chips or chunks after the granola has completely cooled. If you add them while it's warm, they'll just melt into a delicious mess (which isn't bad, but not what you want for distinct chocolate pieces!). My favorite additions often include a mix of sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt at the end for that irresistible sweet and salty combo. Wondering what to do with all that delicious granola? The possibilities are endless! Of course, it's amazing with milk or yogurt (Greek yogurt is my favorite for that creamy contrast). But I also love sprinkling it over smoothie bowls for added texture and nutrients. It makes a fantastic topping for baked apples or pears, adding a wonderful crunch. Sometimes, I just grab a handful as a quick, energizing snack on the go. You can even use it to create a delicious crust for fruit crisps or crumbles. Finally, let's talk storage to keep it fresh and crunchy. While an airtight container is essential, where you store it matters. Keep it in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight or humidity. I've found that glass jars with tight-fitting lids work best for maintaining freshness and preventing it from going stale too quickly. If you live in a very humid environment, adding a small food-grade silica gel packet (the kind that comes with some snacks) to your container can help absorb excess moisture and keep things extra crisp, though I rarely find it necessary if stored properly. Homemade granola really is a game-changer – once you start, you'll wonder why you ever bought it from the store!
