🏒 Hockey player Nate Monticelli talks about scoring his first goal as a Sooner! Listen to our full convo out now-
Scoring my first goal as a Sooner was truly an unforgettable milestone on my hockey journey. The moment the puck hit the net, it felt like a huge weight lifted off my shoulders—a breath of fresh air after all the hard work and dedication. It was not just about the goal itself; it was the culmination of countless hours of training, perseverance, and passion for the game. What made that moment even more special was how it instilled a deep sense of accomplishment and boosted my confidence on the ice. The first goal often feels like a breakthrough, proving to myself that I belong here and can contribute to the team’s success. It’s a moment that stays with you, and I can still feel the excitement every time I look back on it. Interestingly, the second goal came a bit unexpectedly—just grabbing the puck out of the air and rifling it in. It wasn't a planned play, but sometimes those spontaneous moments lead to the best results. When the lamp lit up and the horn sounded, it felt surreal because, at that moment, the game couldn’t get any better. Our team’s strong performance, shutting down OSU with a final score of 11 to 2, made the whole experience even sweeter. For any hockey player, those first goals mark important steps in their athletic career. They symbolize growth, teamwork, and the joy of playing a sport you love. To fellow athletes aiming to reach these moments, stay patient and persistent. The journey might be tough, but the triumph makes it all worth it.
